I'd be quite happy for Connolly to stay, at the moment I don't think he'll be part of our first choice centre back pairing and I don't think he's a right back. However he would be great to have on the bench (although obviously he wants to play every week) as a defender who can fill in right across the back four. I can't see us switching to three centre backs either a la Adrian's wall. Although Brian may think otherwise especially if Kebe tells him to.

QPR only willing to entertain offers if they stay up though, as I understand it

Being reported on Twitter that the lad has agreed to join us according to @Gossip_footie, I don't know if this is a respected source or a 12 year old kid but seems a strange one to make up??

Personally I'd be happy if we signed him for a minimal fee. Standard cover across the back.

Let's hope Birmingham away was a blip. He was truly abysmal!

He wasn't that bad. He was just fairly poor.

He was pretty abysmal v Brum but I was hoping it was just that he wasn't fully fit after the injury lay-off.

I still think he was just poor. Which was understandable after a fair lengthy injury lay off and playing in a team that obviously didn't give two shits whether it won or lost.

Based on what I saw I doubt that he is good enough for the Championship let alone the Premier League

I trust you didn't see all of his games then, because largely he was very composed and reliable, and out of position at right-back especially. The injury was obviously a set-back, and when he got a game at the end, he wasn't fit enough or sharp enough. He will be more than sufficient as cover.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, or their both wanted (Connolly possibly seen as Cummings cover), but we have had a bid accepted for Adrian Mariappa, and we have offered him a contract. -- The player has decided to take his time in making a decision while he considers all his options. I thought he was quite effective before he got hurt. Hope we bring him back, he can cover either the fullback or centerback positions. And he seemed to fit in well with his teammates and knows what is expected in terms of our system...

I think you misunderstood. I only thought he was poor against Birmingham, and for the reasons I gave that you've repeated. I thought he was very good in the other games, although didn't particularly look like a right back.

I like Connolly, good player. No harm in bringing him in at all.

Sounds like Swansea have come in for him.

Sometimes I hate it when you're right.
