retro_royal So its going to be even less affordable then for a Romania fan (for example) who has to make 3 different trips for the group games before trying to get travel and hotel at just 3 days notice when the prices will be through the roof.

Fans in poorer countries who had no chance of travelling to another country for an international tournament could now afford to see a game if it was in their own country.

How many fixtures in poorer countries do you really expect to see?

Read back through the thread. My point is that if they give the games to the poorer countries (ones that couldn't stage the whole tournament on their own) then I don't think it is a bad idea. I am not saying for one second how many they will or won't.

Thing is, if a country is hosting a game/group and their own team aren't even in the competition - do you really think the locals will giving a shit about it!?

Agree that this would have a big bearing on it but while there would be Latvia Vs Ireland taking place in Greece there is a Germany Vs Spain taking place in Serbia.

There would be a lot to be worked out and by no means am I saying it is a amazing idea, just that it is not such a bad idea some are making out IF it is done in the right way. Some usual travelling fans will miss out yes but that would be to the advantage if many other fans who wouldn't usually get the chance. Don't see anything wrong with trying something new as a one off, if it doesn't work then so what, there will be another international tournament 2 years later

Yes, I do.

In fact, I agree almost word for word with soggy here.

I'd love just one world cup where there was just a straight draw out of a massive bag of balls and it was run like the FA Cup.

Sky are saying that Wembley & Allianz Arena now the final 2 stadiums in the running to host the final. Whichever doesnt get it will host a semi final.

Aye is both semis and final else probably group games and one knock out. Though Wembley will probably end up with nothing.

Wembley, quite rightly, gets the final and semi finals

Hampden and Dublin get a last 16 + 3 group stage games package each
