Millsy Yes but the thing with winter is you know you're moving towards better days.
Not only is autumn shit, but you know you're just moving into winter. Double whammy.
That's why I prefer Spring over summer. Not only is it great, but you know you have summer ahead.
In order for me:
Spring
Summer
WInter
Autumn
F**k autumn.
And the word autumnal, it sounds silly.

No, Winter is the worst, contains the three worst months (Jan, Feb and Mar) with nothing to look forward to and, usually, extra cr@p weather - at least in Autumn you have an excuse to party with Halloween and Firework night and can look forward to the Xmas build up (plus you can laugh at those over the pond who keep calling it fall).

Cripple Creek I don't know about you but there is something about the beautiful colours and bright frosty days that make autumn a really special season for me. I just adore the feeling of autumn rain against my face. I love to cosy up on the sofa. It is simply marvellous to observe the leaves turn orange and red. Anyway, as a special idea for Reading fans I thought I may come on here from time to time to share some of my lovely ideas for getting creative this autumn. I have a selection of autumn walks in the Thames Valley to share (readers, keep hush, we don't want everyone knowing about the glorious place we live!!!!), I have several seasonal recipes which I think you will all just love not to mention knitting patterns for snuggly scarves. See you soon and keep warm!!!!!!!

Of course with your knowledge of the history of the English language, you'll know both words were used in England in 16/17th C. So both words were taken to the US and used interchangeably there to, until at some point each country settled on a different word. btw Harvest is an older English term for the period between summer and Winter, pre-dating the founding of the US colonies.

linkenholtroyal Am I the only one that thinks Autumn Snuggles sounds like a strippers name?
What's your porn star name? There are three ways of going about this, pick the best one for you.
Method 1. Take your middle name and the name of your first pet. Put them together for your porn star name.
Method 2. Substitute your first pet's name with the name of the street you grew up with.
Method 3. and usually the best one, take your first pet's name and the street you grew up on
