Should never pre-judge, but a name like "Oliver" conjures up thoughts of a silver-spooned private education. Surely "Ollie" would be more appropriate for his gutter press employment.

School - Alderley Edge County Primary School 1977. Do you think it would be interesting to contact his old school chums and then write up a kind of biography

Harold It light of the recent incidents involving Hunt, it wasn't the best choice of celebration I must say.

It was exactly the right response. I big oxf*rd you to all the twats and a bit of a laugh for anyone who actually has a brain cell to use.

It obviously wasn't the right response as Hunt has gained some more bad press.

With the latest drivel in the Mirror I can feel some more death threats coming on, not as serious as damaging a corner flag or jumping on a mascot granted.....

:o How dare you compare death threats to damaging a corner flag or jumping on a mascot.

we all know that damaging a corner flag and jumping on a mascot are punishable by death...

Indeed - If I was Hunty I would be looking over my shoulder for people dressed up in large furry animal outfits and the odd flag pole coming at ya....!

Awards
In 2005 he first won the Sports Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards, and subsequently won this award again at the British Press Awards 2006. He has been nominated for the Hob Nob Anyone? Tosser of the year award 2007. He is single handedly guaranteeing that the Daily Mirror will not sell another copy within the Thames Valley area

Oh Dear.

isn't "sports journalist of the year" kind of like being awarded the "tallest of the seven dwarves" trophy?

Probably.

There is much more competition for HNA? Tosser of the year!- but even I would put money on it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Holt Oliver Holt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oliver Holt (born 1966) is alledgedly an award-winning sports journalist who 'writes' for the Daily Mirror newspaper in the United Kingdom. He is the son of Thomas Holt and actress Eileen Derbyshire, which accounts for his ability to get into journalism with no talent whatsoever.

He started his journalist career at the Liverpool Echo, and after three years moved to the Times as motor racing correspondent in 1997. He graduated to chief football writer and then chief sports’ features writer. Highlights of his time at the Times was covering the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the 2000 Summer Olympics.

He joined the Daily Mirror in 2002 as the Chief Sports Writer, where he has covered many notable sports events. He was one of the few sports journalists who falsely condemned the challenge [1] by Reading's Stephen Hunt on Chelsea's goalkeeper Petr ÄŒech at the Madejski Stadium, which resulted in ÄŒech's head colliding accidentally with Hunt's knee and leaving ÄŒech requiring surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull. Since the incident he has written several articles on Stephen Hunt and in these biased articles including why a goal celebration proves Hunt meant to hurt Petr ÄŒech; many people have commented that Holt's hatred of Stephen Hunt borders on the obsessive. Some believe that Holt exhibits the classic signs of early-stage psychopathic obsession with Hunt. He frequently engages in fantasy love-making about Hunt. The article referenced below, for instance, contains at least 14 inaccuracies, a significant achievement, and on close reading would appear to have been written by someone who wasn't at the game in question and had only Jose Mourinho to refer to for evidence.

He has written several books on sport, though none of them readable. Actually i'm a bit of a pratt, and i've never had a girlfriend

He is a regular guest on Sky Sports' Jimmy Hill's Sunday Supplement and manages the remarkable achievement of making Hill seem witty and erudite on football issues.

Awards
In 2005 he first won the Sports Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards, and subsequently won this award again at the British Press Awards 2006. He has been nominated for the Hob Nob Anyone? Tosser of the year award 2007. He is single handedly guaranteeing that the Daily Mirror will not sell another copy within the Thames Valley area.

He's married with two daughters so I'm not sure the bit about never having a gf is true. The rest about the fantasy love-making and being a bit of a prat look about right though

The odd thing about all this is that when he wrote for The Times, I'm sure he said once that he was a Manchester United fan.
