Isn't it funny that the Queens tax collectors want to shut Rangers down cos you've not been very loyal to her purse!

Looking like being one of the biggest points overhauling in football history. How many points were Rangers ahead earlier this season?

Rangers then, Rangers now and Rangers Forever!

As for points hauling - it was 15 with 2 games in hand therefore 9 points net - with 3 OFs to go - so the league was always in Celtic's hands. It required a long term injury to Naisy, the sale of our star striker and a 10 pont deduction for Celtic and their 40 man squad to relax and win it. People say it was an achievement for Lennon - if he hadnt won the SPL it would have been a scandal!!

And still they come to Ibrox and got their arses skelpt

So if we discount Celtics title this season on account of there not being any real opposition/ 'gers point deduction can we also discount every trophy Rangers achieved via cheating over the last decade by living beyond their means :?:

No, for a simple reason.

When Whyte took over Rangers had only one debt - of £18m - to Lloyds bank. Given that Rangers had made £13m in profit in the three years prior to Whyte's purchase it is clear that the club were not living beyond its means. An overdraft of £18m is perfectly manageable for Rangers and compares favourably with many other clubs.

The second part to this is the large tax case. A scheme that was widely used by industry in the last 10-15 yrs. It was not illegal. Where Rangers may/may not have fallen down is in the administration of this. If it was clear cut we'd have been banged to rights years ago. With hindsight Rangers could/should have managed this better. But the cards are stacked against this when HMRC have publicly said that even if Rangers win the tribunal they will appeal until they eventually get a favourable ruling.

PS - should Celtic give back their 9IAR trophies given that they systematically under declared crowds and distributed the cash among their directors (allegedly of course)? But if you know your history.....

Top contender for head in sand 2012 award

Why I appreciate the nomination, thanks!

For what its worth of course I recognise the danger that this tax strategy has placed the club in. But the story is much deeper than this - and lies within the Murray empire. If Murray hadnt financed his empire through corporate bank borrowing rather than a public share issue he would not now be under the complete control of the bank - bank debt circa £700m with reduced assets in property and metal. The bank forced the sale of Rangers to an untested third party, the Walter Mitty that is Craig Whyte. Had Murray been able to hold onto the club for longer until a more credible person came along then we wouldnt have become such a train wreck as we are now. We may still have lost the big tax case - and we may still have had to go into administration to unwind that. But we wouldnt be quite the embarrasing shambles we are now.
