Man Friday Can't understand the anti-Liverpool sentiment.

Can't understand the pro-City sentiment.

What's wrong with City?

Good club who have gone through a lot, good fans who don't seem to have let all the money that has come into their club in the last 5 or 6 years get into their heads and are outshining their arrogant neighbours who have constantly looked down their noses at them.

Not forgetting their big name and well paid players who rarely appear in the media, especially since Balotelli left, for anything other than football.

Good luck to them I say.

Doing no favours for English football.
Mucked about with Adam Johnson and Scott Sinclair. Rodwell's career now nose-diving. And they want to stick Kuhl in their reserves for the next 10 years now?

Used to like them when they had 4 or 5 English in the team but look at them now. Joe Hart and the occasional Milner appearance.
A team of foreign mercenaries.
That's what's wrong with City.

English football needs to do something for itself before expecting others to do so. Milner isn't in their team on a regular basis because he's an awful, technically deficient player.

Certainly wouldnt call the likes of Kompany, Zabaleta, Toure and Aguero mercenaries there merely for the money.

if an English player is good enough he'll get played if not he'd better move to a team that'll play him

Exactly. The real issue with the likes of Sinclair and Johnson is they got to the top and stopped working hard to improve or even to keep the same level that got them there.

Sinclair is a perfect example. On loan at WBA but he'd rather be photographed in OK magazine with his airhead missus than put the effort in, get into a struggling team and get back in favour at his parent club.

How would they improve without any match experience?
Johnson currently linked with Liverpool, and no doubt Rodgers will give him the chance to live up to his potential that others didn't.

Not always the case though.
Players such as Sterling, Flanagan and Henderson would get nowhere near a Man City 1st team.
But as it stands they'll likely be key players in the team that wins the League.

Some clubs will look to the next foreign import and some will put faith in a local lad.
Southampton, Everton and Liverpool have best represented the latter this season and I am delighted with what they've achieved.

You seem to think everything is about what happens on the pitch when a great deal happens on the training ground. They improve by working hard on the training ground to get into the team and keep up to the levels of the likes of Aguero.

Do you think Gareth Bale is sitting at Valdebebas everyday thinking 'I've made it, no need to put the effort in'? Or do you think he's working hard everyday to be at the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo?

Beckham was a great example. Everyone at Madrid thought he was a show pony there to sell shirts, even the likes of Zidane and Figo admitted feeling like that in an FFT magazine interview a couple of months back. However, they said he worked so hard to be at that level and be as good as them that through his determination and effort he earned their respect.

Liverpool are second favourite to win the league. Those same players finished 7th last season. Are they improving or are things going their way at the moment (or a combo of both). I'd hardly say they're world beaters just yet. I'll wait until after the world cup and next seasons CL before making a judgement on players

Think Beckham and Bale's success is largely down to natural talent, though of course determination plays a part.

Personally, I can't see why anyone other than Man City fans would get excited about Man city winning the league. A few years ago yes they were rich, but they were still the underdog upsetting the establishment, playing decent football, with quite a few British players.
Now they are a bunch of foreign mercenaries. No effort whatsoever to incorporate a British identity into their team. They are the favourites for the title.

Liverpool are now the underdogs. Perhaps winning the league for the 1st time in 25 years. Nobody gave them a chance, but they're playing great football and using predominantly English/British footballers. Them winning the League would do wonders for the confidence and career progress of young players such as Sturridge, Sterling, Henderson and Flanagan. Therefore, it would also help the England national team, a team that I support due to being English.

Just can't see why an English neutral would follow City at this point in time. If you want to watch foreigners play nice football you might as well watch a La Liga match than Man City.

I still think Liverpool will win it, even if the bookies say otherwise.
Liverpool can beat Palace & Newcastle comfortably. They're still the in-form team.

Man City have been inconsistent lately. Recent slip up to Sunderland and failure to beat Arsenal suggests that 3 victories against Everton, Villa and West Ham are not 100% guaranteed.

If they beat Everton away next Saturday then they will be clear favourites of the two. Not until then though.

points can be dropped anywhere by anyone. Liverpool are also not 100% guaranteed to win their next two games

Man city may win the next three games and secure the title, dunno.

Just stating the obvious.

I heard an interesting little fact on the radio; Suarez, for all his goals this season, failed to score against Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea.

You disagree?
Or are you saying it's obvious?
Personally, I think it is obvious which is why I was surprised when Sandman compared Scott Sinclair and Adam Johnson to Beckham and Bale.

Of course they got where they are by working hard, but some people are born to be better athletes than others. Speed, for instance, (one of Bale's greatest attributes) is not something that can be immediately attributed to hard work.

So Liverpool fans letting off fireworks and prank calling Chelsea's hotel in Formby in the early hours of this morning. Nice.

wut.

Beckham is basically the definition of a quite good footballer who achieved greatness through hard work on the training field and careful image and media work.

WRT speed - the difference between fast, which many footballers are, and absolutely fucking rapid is down to hard work and very little else.

i saw something on the telly about Old United teams and was genuinely quite surprised by the amount of skill Beckham actually had. but would agree attitude >>> talent.

Also agree that you can work on speed but have no idea what sort of improvements can be made (feel free to enlighten)
