Another demise which has caught me by surprise and shock, god i am detached from the local scene.

Aylesbury United FC.

I referee'd many games here when they were in the Southern League and the club house was a central meeting point for referees on a Sunday for regional meetings.

Lots of games off in Hellenic today, again...

Unfortunatly Mitoo seems to have deleted the fixtures instead of setting postponed.

... didn't bother posting today - nearly every 'local' NL game OFF - as said for some reason Mitoo Hellenic has opted to wipe games Postponed from their list rather than show them.

Only games NOT yet declared as OFF (so please check before travelling) in the vicinity are:

CONFS Farnborough v Dorchester - definitely ON
CONFS Staines v Basingstoke - on according to 'Massive' forum

SOUTH1S&W Thatcham v Bishops Cleeve

HELL1E Finch v S.Kilburn

WESS1 Tadley Calleva v Ringwood

Re: Aylesbury United, didn't they once play host to England in a warm up match to a World Cup or European Championships?

Yes, that is true.

Pre 1988 Euros in Germany England's last game was against Aylesbury Utd. They won 7-0 and Beardsley scored 4.

I remember seeing Reading lose here in a Berks & Bucks tie many moons ago

Wax Jacket Salisbury had a man sent off I believe, but all the same.

that's that league done and dusted then

Latest games - Truro drew and Salisbury won. The latter are a point clear with 2 games in hand. And Cambridge a further 3 points behind Truro, but also with 2 games in hand.

This stage of the season 'games in hand' isn't neccesarily a good thing, once the games start to pile up you start to see some funny results.

I think Salisbury will probably win the league but naturally I'm hoping Truro can find that last push to get over the line as champions.

More importantly just hoping Diddy survive.

Was that the Berks and Bucks game where John Polston told Reading fans to oxf*rd off?!

Sticking with grounds, Dripping Pan at Lewes is one of my favourites. Great to referee it, great setting, unusual layout. Any others?

The Dripping Pan is one of the grounds I really need to get to. So quirky and unusual which makes a refreshing change. Thats one of the attractions for me with NL football. The grounds have far more individuality than the run of the mill plastic warehouses higher up the pyramid.

have been meaning to go there for ages too, looks absolutely brilliant. pretty much in the town centre too.

it's funny how much more non-league clubs tend to play around with design than league clubs. even at a new modern stadium like Salisbury they've gone for a wrap-around covered terrace behind one goal while down the side there's just the Hop Back-sponsored scoreboard next to something that's not much more than a disabled shelter.

Sorry - bit late with the (P)review this week - here's the 'local NL' interest with today's Vase 1/4s thrown in for info :
PS The 'Editor' function on here is having serious issues with my browser AGAIN so not quite as many nice colours/twiddly bits etc

FA Vase Quarter Finals
1 Poole Town v Torpoint Athletic
2 Coalville Town v Leiston
3 Kings Lynn Town v Rye United
4 Dunston UTS v Whitley Bay

CONFS
Basingstoke v Lewes
Braintree Town v Staines Town
Dartford v Maidenhead Utd
Dover v Hampton & Richmond
Havant and W v Bromley
Woking v Farnborough

ISTH1S
Fleet Town v Chatham Town
Leatherhead v Godalming Town

SOUTHP
Didcot Town v Salisbury City - tough one for Ady’s lads vs the current leaders
Truro City v Cambridge City - 2nd vs 3rd Cambridge are 3pts behind with 3 games in hand.
SOUTH1C – apart from SYCOB adrift at the bottom most of our ‘local’ sides here are bunched in mid-table trying to scramble for the 4th/5th place Play Off positions
Ashford Town (Middx) v North Greenford United
Barton Rovers v Burnham
Leighton Town v Beaconsfield SYCOB
Marlow v Bedfont Town
Slough Town v Soham Town Rangers
Uxbridge v Hitchin Town
SOUTH1S&W
Andover v Almondsbury Town
Frome Town v Abingdon United
Gosport Borough v North Leigh - away side beaten 9-3 by a strong OUFC in the County Cup during the week
Thatcham Town v Paulton Rovers - won 1-0 vs Sholing long time league leaders on Tue
Yate Town v Hungerford Town - away side up to 5th and in the mix for the Play Offs

COCOP
Badshot Lea v Colliers Wood United
Banstead Athletic v Ash United
Cove v Egham Town
Dorking v Wembley
Epsom & Ewell v Camberley Town
Molesey v Guildford City

CB Hounslow United v Farnborough North End
Cobham v Farleigh Rovers
Frimley Green v Staines Lammas
Hartley Wintney v Eversley
Sheerwater v Knaphill
Warlingham v Westfield
Worcester Park v Chobham

HELLP
Fairford Town v Highworth Town
Flackwell Heath v Bracknell Town
Kidlington v Wantage Town – a point or better for Kiddy and they take over top spot from Ardley who play in the Cup today (see below) – Wantage currently 4th won’t want to lose touch but were dreadful at the back at Scours lane last Tuesday when they scraped a win in a 9 goal thriller. Fortunately for them RTFC were even worse defensively and badly ran out of steam late on.
Old Woodstock Town v Shrivenham
Pegasus Juniors v Binfield – long trip for the Moles who’ll want to keep up their recent good away form which has seen them climb to 5th. They host Wantage on Monday night is what could be a real ‘ 6pt thriller’
Reading Town v Oxford City Nomads
Shortwood United v Ascot United
Slimbridge v Thame United
Wokingham & Emmbrook v Carterton
Wootton Bassett Town v Abingdon Town
HELL1E
Farnborough Reserves v Rayners Lane

sounds like a credible result for Adies Didcot again

the equaliser being scored by "Williams"..the 347 crowd being a welcome revenue raiser I'm sure
