BREAKING NEWS: FA will take no action against Burnley's Ashley Barnes for tackle on Chelsea's Nemanja Matic on Saturday - more on #SSNHQ

Fair decision.

Something incredibly wrong with the game, given that decision. However, Burnley have City soon, so Burnley need their batter players out on the pitch.

They really do need to look at the rule that they can't look back at incidents the ref thinks he's dealt with at the time.
But ROFL anyway, who do the FA want to rattle most Kes or Mourinho?

LIke I said above - City have Burnley soon, so Barnes won't miss the game now. Works in our favour. The main disappointment will be if the FA don't rescind the Matic red card.

The decision is consistent with the ruling. But it's a flawed ruling.

If the Barnes tackle wasn't a foul (can't remember if the ref gave a free kick for it or not) then its going to be seen as Matic bundling a player over off the ball. Can't see them rescinding it but then its the FA so they probably will. I know its not like he punched him in the back of the head but its more just a little push.

Do you honestly think the red card should be rescinded?* Yes, the tackle was awful and Matic's reaction was both understandable and IMO entirely justified, but you can't send the message it's OK to shove people about if you feel hard done by. This isn't the sunday leagues

*do you also think the Shab Kahn red should be rescinded?

How many players do we see shove each other each week and not even get a booking...... IMO Matic only deserved a yellow. It wasn't a punch or anything as sinister.

It was a pretty hard shove though. Could've killed him if he'd landed awkwardly.

Ridiculous decision - how was it worse than what Costa got a 3 game ban for?!

I would have quite liked to have seen Mourinho's face when he heard.

It wasn't, hence no ban. Not convinced Barnes did him deliberately, kicks the ball away and catches Matic on the follow through. Matic's fault for diving in.*

*Kes b8.

Yeah i kinda didn't word that right - i meant, how wasn't it worse than what Costa got banned for.

Reminds me of when Callum McManaman didn't get banned for that tackle against Newcastle a couple of seasons back

Presumably means Atkinson saw the incident?

Doubt it, else he would have sent Barnes off (or at very least given him a yellow)

People keep saying "Barnes Tackle" but surely he's the one in possession. The (block) tackle is made by Matic and then Barnes catches him, deliberately in my view, on the follow through.

Pretty unpleasant and lucky to get away with it.

Still a pretty cowardly attack from Matic when Barnes' back is turned fully deserving of a red card ;-)

Can someone gif the incident the f*ck up on here please? (the Barnes-Matic one, not the Kes meltdown one)

From my brief viewing at the weekend it looked like Barnes cleared the ball and Matic lunged to block the clearance and as he was a fraction of a second late it meant Barnes got the ball away but Matic' leg was there after which Barnes foot then inevitably hit
