Hoop Blah
Linden Jones Reckon he'll go to Wealdstone

Spot on.

I'm well pleased about this appointment at the Stones.

Hopefully he'll use his Reading connections and I'll get to see lots of Reading boys/loanees turning out for the Stones this season.

Fleet Town
1-4 Moneyfields - other new guys, from the Wessex settling in well, only behind AFC R&D on GD

Northwood 2-0 Hayes & Yeading United

North Greenford United 1-1 AFC Hayes
Spelthorne Sports 2-0 Walton & Hersham
Sutton Common Rovers 0-1 Balham
- This was our first game of the day – slow M25 nr Chertsey & slow stuff across from top of A3 to Sutton and an irritating excess of Red Traffic Lights against us, saw us arrive at 11:40 for what was scheduled to be an 11:30 KO but for reasons hitherto unknown, this had (fortunately) changed to 12:00. Much fancied SCR fluffed their lines badly against the new boys from Balham who probably just deserved all three points

CCL1
AC London 3-0 Farleigh Rovers
Ash United 3-1 Frimley Green
Bagshot
2-7 {SEVEN} Fleet Spurs
Bedfont & Feltham 0-4 Staines Lammas
Chessington & Hook United 0-3 FC Deportivo Galicia

Cove 1-3 Eversley & California - E&C stay top
Worcester Park 4-2 Raynes Park Vale

HELLP
Abingdon United 1-0 Fairford Town

Flackwell Heath 2-1 Burnham
Highworth Town 3-2 Royal Wootton Bassett Town - not seen a full report of this one yet but RWBT were down to 9 men around the hour mark and scored their 2nd on 89’– so would suggests some drama unfolding

Lydney Town 1-1 Longlevens
Oxford City Nomads 2-2 Brackley Town Saints
Tuffley Rovers 3-1 Brimscombe & Thrupp
Wantage Town 2-1 Thatcham TownFreds up to 7th as Kingfishers falter and slip back to 4th

Nice 3-0 win for Windsor over closest neighbours Ascot.

Barry Hayles made it 3 in 3 for him - his strength, experience and ability has made a significant difference. At 45 he is remarkable.

Da Bells Da Bells Did a double header yesterday. Went to Camberley for the 1130 kick off then off to Farnborough to watch Cureton.

Slough bought about 150 fans which was a food effort but they are definitely Wednesday of the football league. They thought they were massive.
Despicable club
.

... the above might have had more credence about it, had it not been at the expense of those other 'self-deprecating darlings' ... 'boro.

A check on their popularity ratings around NL and indeed even amongst their own fans, might put hem slightly above Sluff in the B-B-B stakes....

Locally I've encountered more vociferously ex-Boro fans than from any other outfit .... might have had a lot to do with the antics of Spencer Day & previously Mr Westley. 8)

Royalist Maidenhead lost Dave Tarpey to Barnet subject to EFL clearance.

Huge blow for them.

Unless he was demanding a move, or Barnet paid a large fee, it seems a crazy bit of business for Maidenhead. They looked to have a good chance of staying up with him in the team. Now though, they are probably odds on to go down.

With it being so late, they can't even sign a replacement.

Looking forward to another trip down the M4 to see Windsor at Brimscombe and Thrupp.

Windsor's away support is very creditable - average of 150 at home and we are taking circa 50 to games that are 70-100 miles away. Today is going to be very messy for the crew.... they are already on the beer train and have a full day of it lined up incl a visit to a pub (The Lord John I believe) where you can get a pint for under £2.

I on the other hand have a visit lined up to IKEA on the way back up the M4....

Don't think they have a transfer window in national league. Heard the figure of 100k banded about. Would be able to get a few top semi pros for that.

He started and lasted 60 mins yesterday. I wonder if he has to work his notice at his day job?!

Somebody has said to me he is on about 1k a week at barnet. At 29 that is a big risk to take if you leave the day job, unless they say to take him back no questions asked after football. Good luck to him.

Brimscombe and Thrupp 4-4 Windsor

90 miles each way - disappointing result but good entertainment and a very picturesque ground and warm welcome.

Dear oh dear, we really have wrapped this one up. 4-2 with 10 mins to go and always the better team. The manager was having a right go at them after the game which is unusual.

One of their players scored a hat trick from dead balls. We concede a fair few silly free kicks around the area (and penalties) and in a season and a half I haven't seen our keeper save a single one. In fact with the free kicks he has hardly laid a glove on one. Always seems to start too far across the goal.

double d Somebody has said to me he is on about 1k a week at barnet. At 29 that is a big risk to take if you leave the day job, unless they say to take him back no questions asked after football. Good luck to him.

Well i guess it depends on how much the job he has was paying him and what type of career he has. 52k a year for 2 or so years? Give him time to find a new day job when its over. The Coventry offer didn't fit as he would have to move. Guess he doesn't now.

Rother you'll win nothing with kids! ( unless you get a once in a generation group of players who go on to be full internationals making you look like a fool)

- Got to this just about at KO – v.long drive and M25 was a bit of a git up to about S.Mimms – easy enough ground to find though; set just back from the sea-front.
- Not sure they prepared themselves for a ‘big tie’ – presumably cos they’d perhaps assumed this wasn’t one. Average home crowds last season was around 110 (taking out a one-off of about 800 - presumably a holiday/special offer fixture). Chesham brought a fair few fans to swell the crowd to close to 300 but the hosts evidently hadn’t anticipated this.
- Miniscule number of progs printed so we didn't manage to get one– picked up a copy of last weeks from behind the bar. Parking was a bit ‘hit and miss’ but plenty of free street parking around.
- Woeful lack of food, with some odd ‘supply’ regulations – ran out of rolls for burgers just after KO - and were all of 100 yds from an ALDI so not sure why no-one had been despatched to get more – weren’t cooking any Burgers anyway so not sure where the rolls they did have at the start had gone? ....as a result yet my mate was asked if he wanted a BACON roll when he was refused a Pasty :? – “they are reserved for half-time”
…. and the bar was poorly stocked – can of John Smiths or bottles of Becks/Stella was about their limit. Had got some Ale but they too had long gone by about 15:15.
- Chesham from 2 levels higher won without too much bother but themselves are in a bad way losing the entire playing squad on the eve of this season
- back indoors around 20:30 - long day for a NL match ..... and it wasn't even a tick at a club from a 'targetted' league. Good to judge timings for those that way we still have on our list.

SUNDAY 3rd Sept

- thought seriously about this one but yesterday's 'epic saga', the earlier KO and the fact middle-one was admitted to RBH last night :( , means I've decided/had to opt out - need to be around to ferry people back 'n forth (though we do actually live opposite South Block) - The other two need lifts into to Town for work/hobby and she probably won't want to walk home once they've decided to discharge her.
