Green tmesis I'm still amazed that these sorts of things happen. Surely the players themselves must know they've played in the competition this season already.
This is what I'm getting at. You can argue about the rights and wrongs of it but it's just sheer incompetence.
Prestwich Heys just been thrown out of the FA Vase(2nd round) for the same thing.- 2 matches
It has been ruled that the Club played an ineligible player in the games against Winterton Rangers and Whitley Bay. The FA charged the Club with being in breach of FA Vase Rule 15(e) in relation to the Club allegedly playing an ineligible player in the above matches. It was alleged that the Player concerned played in the above matches for the Club having already played for another Club, in The FA Vase in the 2022-23 season, in breach of FA Vase Rule 15(e), which states “A player shall not play for more than one Club in the Competition in the same season.”
The Club submitted mitigation in response to the charge on the basis that checks carried out before and after the Winterton Rangers game by Heys and the ruling bodies did not identify the alleged breach.
In response the FA stated that “having considered the mitigation presented, they found that the Club had failed to satisfy them in accordance with the provisions allowed for in FA Vase Rule 16(c). which states “ However, where the club satisfies the National Game Board that the club (or any of its officers) did not know and could not reasonably have known, even had it made every reasonable enquiry (with the exercise of the utmost caution), that the player was ineligible, the club shall not be removed from the Competition but may still be subject to any other penalty. (e.g., fine, ordered to replay the match”
The FA have ordered that the Club be removed from this seasons Competition and the Second Round Proper tie be awarded to Whitley Bay FC. Stating that “Due to the Competition having progressed, the Members could only consider the most recently defeated Club by Prestwich Heys FC in relation to reinstating a Club. Whitley Bay FC shall now play at home to West Didsbury & Chorlton FC in the Third Round Proper with this match to be played on Saturday 3 December 2022”
Heys must also return all prize monies received in the competition.
The Club are disappointed at the outcome in view of their mitigation but accept that in the interests of transparency and integrity of the competition that they have fielded an ineligible player.
In accepting the decision, we know that everyone in the Club and our loyal fans will be extremely disappointed at the outcome but ask that they accept the decision with respect and dignity.
The Club will make no further comment on this matter.
