72 busLower West Ejaria needs a fresh start. Be gone when his contract expires. Meanwhile he can continue to pick up his large paycheck every month.
Meanwhile in the real world if you are not performing you get a couple of verbal warnings then a final written then you are gone.

Maybe, but issues with three managers in a row now.

Elm Park Kid Once there's an independent regulator maybe they can introduce a standard contract template that stops this crap. If you're not demonstrating commitment to the team then you can be fired. Same as any other job.

Tbf in most jobs firing somebody is a very long and difficult process which often involves a payout to skip all the HR procedure. Pretty sure he'd still be here if football was "normal".

No one knows what the issues are beyond tw@tter speculation. Might be the player, might be the manager, might be the club, might be a bit of all three.
Given our take on the management over the past couple of years it’s not beyond the realms of possibility he just hasn’t been “a fan”. He’s gone next summer anyway so it’s in his interest to become all “sweetness and light” with the management in the meantime. Anticipating a new owner will mean another clean slate heading his way.
However, at the end of the day, bet it is all simply down to another payment to Liverpool becoming due…

Elm Park Kid I agree we don't know what's going on. But EFL clubs at least should have standard break clauses in contracts that say if you, for example, don't start a single first team/U23 game in a calendar year then you can be released from your contract with a standard payout. If it's for medical reasons then there is an independent assessment to see if that's the case.

Elm Park Kid I mean:
Say a player signs a 5 year contract but in their second season something just goes wrong where they're no longer performing. Maybe they're out drinking too much, or getting involved with dodgy (but not illegal) stuff . . . or maybe their form just generally goes down the toilet.
The manager benches them for a while, puts them in the reserves, but after 3 months there's no improvement.
I don't think it's unreasonable that there be a system where the club can then say to the player "Look, if things don't improve enough in the next 9 months that you start playing for us again you'll be let go". And then if we get to that point they get a 3 month payout.
The player basically has a one year notice that their contract will end if they don't sort themselves out. That seems reasonable and fair to me.

Can be part of the goodwill held on the balance sheet when you buy a company which has assets of say £100m but is worth £120m because of the value the employees bring to the table, examples being a software company which employs all the best software engineers in the world.rabidbee72 busLower West Ejaria needs a fresh start. But staff don't usually appear on a company's balance sheet as assets.
