Stranded In divisions outside the Premier League perhaps. Chelsea are not our rivals, they're just a team we have to play twice.

So points are not available to Reading in those two games? Crikey, think I'll stay at home next Wednesday then.

Unless of course he thinks it's a guaranteed 6 points for us? ;)

I would say that Chelsea are our rivals in the strictest sense of the word as we will be trying to take points off them, but in reality it's not as if any of our games against them are likely to be 'six-pointers'! Anyway, I have no problem with Sidders signing for them as he isn't going to improve their starting eleven. If anything he's a weak link we could exploit!

I'm not saying he's not a good player, but he isn't up to the quality of the players they already have at their disposal, so would rather he go there than to someone where he could make a major difference.

Stranded Chelsea are not our rivals though as, like or not we are not in competition with them in any real sense. Our rivals are team's such as Fulham's, Boro's, Wigan's etc - teams that we look to finish ahead of to stay up.

Fair enough, if that's what you think. I'd say our rivals were any teams in the same division as us since we will be competing with them for the same points.

Difference is for us they are "bonus" points ie great if we get something but not the end of the world if we don't. The points available from games against the teams I mentioned are (or could be) vital.

As far as I was concerned, a rivalry was between two or more people/teams trying to achieve the same object/goal. I can't really see as Chelsea will be worried about how we get on this season in our pursuit for the title, two domestic Cups and a European Cup

Binfield Royal When Cheatski come next week and if Siddy is picked as seems likely with the amount of injuries they seem to have just now, what sort of treatment will the "Reading Faithfull" give Sidwell.

I hope it is remembered that he served Reading well for 4 seasons and even after he knew he was leaving, he always gave a good performance in a Reading shirt.

I hope he will get a good reception from our fans.

There will, I suspect, be some whose memory will malfunction as soon as they seem him in a Chelsea shirt - sadly that will make the rest of us seem like plonkers as well.

same as gilksy got when he 'came back' with Wolves. hearty applause then lumps kicked out of him and carried off on a stretcher.

Royalee Given the opinions of half-wits on here, I expect Sidwell'll get a poor reception, which is unfortunate. I'll be clapping him as he always gave his all and never let anyone down, even when he knew he was leaving. I don't think we'll miss him much though as we've brought in some good players and I'd be very happy if he played as I think it'd weaken them and give us more of a chance of a good result.

Considering Curo did exactly the same as Sidders and is hailed as a king whenever he returned to play against us. It wouldn't surprise me.

Before anyone says 'it was a different scenario' please remember that Curo had a one year extension on the table and said that he was after more security in his deal. He then sodded off to Korea for more money and a longer contract. At the very least, Sidwell has moved onto a far better team with a chance of winning real honours

For a start Curo didnt join a rival team??? he went abroad, plus what went on last season with hunty and chelsea and the way the chelsea manager conducted himself i cant see why sidwell would even what to talk to the nut job. We all know what he said about hunty and our club. If sidwell went to newcastle or villa i wouldnt have a problem even though they are our rivals too.

Rivals? How is a top two club our rivals? If you had said West Ham, then I would have agreed with you as we have a little history with them. Now you just look stupid

Im sorry but after last season do we not have ' a little bit of history' with chelsea too? Do u have a short memory of what happend??? Nearly every game that was on tv after the chelsea game in which hunty played in the incident with cech was brought up, then that so called reporter at the daily mirror tired stiring things up all season long. So to say we havent got history with chelsea is wrong. And yes i do class them as our rivals along with all the other teams in our league, just remind me what the scores were when we played chelsea last season 6-0, 5-1, 4-0??? On the day we can get a result !!! have more faith. And by the way 'Stupid is what stupid does' .
