Oh I think that you do  Give me Mick Gooding or Simon Osborn any day of the week over Caskey.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't seem to recall Gooding or Osborn scoring many free-kicks.

The season Caskey scored many goals was when Pardew decided to move him to right wing, I think. If he had played in his usual central role during that season, he might not have scored so many.

And Caskey never really played for Pardew in the Championship....hence why you might be mistaken in thinking he dropped Caskey around that time!

legend? maybe strong......maybe.

I felt he had such an influence in that season, and did keep us up at the time in Div 2.

The crowd also loved him, when he was poor and fat 2, which suggests he is a fans fav and legend.

He played over 200 games as well, and kept his status as a fav all the time really

No but Gooding and Osborn were far more consistent, both scored some great goals, and Gooding in particular worked his wee socks off for the RFC cause and was the engine of the team and had great technique and skill to boot.

Oh no, I forgot that it wasn't a Championship season  No, but I remember seeing Caskey's decline from the ten good games he had

Remember seeing Jimmy Quinn's wonder goal againgst Wolves that was one of the goals that kept Reading away from relegation? Now that was legend status.

Shoey, I actually agree that Caskey was a good player when on song but legend as you say maybe a tad too strong.

Simon Osborn was one of the greatest ever to wear the hoops. Debate over.

Memorable goals against Barnsley, Oldham, Charlton, Wolves; the headed clearance off the line against Bolton; the volley that shuddered the bar against Wolves.

A shame he was only around for a season.
