Having read the article the thing that excites me most surrounds our scouting budget and knowing about most players in Europe.

Lets put a notable point here about early backing.

Zingarevich has stressed that contrinuity is key. It has been announced in the media he has extended both McDermott and Gibbs to 2014. On McDermott's instructions he has extended every key member of staff until the same date. We have also pinned Hammond down to 2015 - although we never announce Hammond's contract. That's a +1 for continuity and stability.

Reading set to splash the cash
Reading could have spent more as they prepared for life in the Premier League but will be more active this summer, according to owner Anton Zingarevich.

The Royals looked set to make an instant return to the second tier as they struggled to adapt to life in the top flight but a six-game unbeaten run has pushed them out of the drop zone.
Zingarevich, who has been in control at the Madejski Stadium for a year now and will complete a total buyout of the club in September, accepts the poor start could have been down to a lack of investment, but has pledged to make sure nothing similar happens again in the future.
"The difficulty last summer was that we didn't have a big scouting budget over the last year when we were in the Championship. We knew the players, but we didn't want to make a mistake," he told the Reading Post.
"We stuck to what we knew and we could have done more, but there is no point looking back. We have done a lot of scouting over the past few months and we know pretty much every single player in Europe. So come the summer, it is much easier.
"It is easier for players to adapt as well as they have the whole pre-season in front of them. In the summer we can have a little bit more risk than in January."
Reading signed four players in January but were foiled in their attempts to sign Blackpool's Thomas Ince and Tottenham's Gylfi Sigurdsson. That frustrated Zingarevich, but he believes a hostile transfer window market means doing business can be tough,
"We could have probably done more, you can always spend more money," he said. "Spending money is easy. We wanted to achieve something, which was to make the squad competitive and make sure that it was getting us over the line.
"The psychology doesn't change. We could have bought big, big players, but that doesn't ensure you success, like you see with other teams.
"But we are in a better position right now. In terms of January we tried to sign some really good players, but January is difficult."

Poor choice of wording, but they obviously want to grow the club, and the only way to do that is to increase the fan base by making it attractive to a wider audience.

You can't have everything - if we want a sustained run in the top flight, then this kind of approach is inevitable...

Football is your product that as the owner of a football club sell to prospective customers. It's not poor choice of wording unless you live in la la land.

Customers tend to pick and choose the product whereas football fans are lumbered with what is on offer,for better or for worse.
The loyalty of football fans is incredible when compared to decisions made in other parts of their life but whether future generations will show such loyalty is the big question.
We are mainly loyal IMHO because of a sense of belonging and being part of what goes on but more and more it feels that we are not really part of it all.

Still,good to hear that he will splash the cash but is that only if we stay up?
Also good to hear about the scouts all over the world especially in areas like Fulham,Crawley and even Sheffield.

Just to clarify these figures, TSI are buying 51% of the club for £12.7m, with an option to buy the other 49% for £12.3m. I have heard that this includes an extra "£5M bonus for promotion".

The £40M sale price which was initially mentioned in early interviews by Sir John Madejski was later corrected down to £25m by overseas-tax avoidance specialist Chris Samuelson.
