He interviewed the founder of XR who said that the tipping point in campaigns would likely come when a household name got locked up for protesting in support of a cause. This would gain maximum publicity and dramatically increase general public support as the British sense of justice kicked in.

So basically we just need to pursuade Ricky Gervais and/or Chris Tarrant to volunteer to get themselves locked up in suppport of our campaign!

Sorry to ask but do you think that the cost of a plane with banner would be worth it as will it actually have any impact on Dai/the club bar 15 seconds of coverage on the local news? Wouldn't there be a better use for any crowd-sourced funds (not sure what though).

Plane over drone, yes. Drone isn't an option, whereas plane is. There would never be a permit granted and doing without would be heavily enforced.

If it were to be requested for that purpose it would be made clear it was, to enable people to make a choice as to whether they felt it was value for money. It'd be remiss of us to dismiss the idea it out of hand. All considerations at this stage.
