Burnley winning well so pressure will surely be on Leeds for friday, can we take advantage.? they could drop out of top 6 if we beat them.

So that puts Leeds, Forest, Burnley, Millwall - just about thanks to GD -, and Hull still in the running for the last play off place.

Burnley still to play Leeds and Cardiff, so keeping their hopes alive is only a good thing (win on the final day to secure Play offs?)
Millwall play Swansea penultimate game. I expect Millwall to be out of the running by then though sadly. Then again, win all our games and they don't matter. :)

So what result do we want tonight between Ipswich & Norwich. If Norwich lose then QPR are promoted (on GD). In that case it would mean thay do not need to bother too much against Cardiff. Perhaps a draw would be best for us

Forest are kicking off two and a half hours before us, which could mean when by the time our kick off rolls up, Leeds could be out of the playoffs already, let alone if we beat them.. Full amount of pressure on them.. We've (not mathematically) already secured our play off place, so second would just be a very pleasant bonus. Nothing to lose.

draw'll do it as long as we win all our games. So draw it is then.

Now 2-0 Norwich.

Norwich to drop points tonight was a bit of a must for us really.....still, at least it means that QPR must beat Cardiff on Saturday to confirm promotion.

Looking more and more like the play-offs it is - and we eed 4 points to be mathematically certain of them - although 3 points will *probably* be enough considering GD.

Given most people thought we'd struggle to make the play offs a month ago I don't think we should be too upset at that. We pretty much had to win all our games anyway... which was a massive ask. And expect other teams to drop points.

We're still looking pretty good to be the form team going into the play offs. I suspect we aren't going up, but we'll give it a bloody good go still.

It's like negativity city here, I hope none of the players watch this.

So Ian you suspect we are not going up, hardly worth reaching the play offs then is it. There is no reason at all that Norwich wont drop two points in thier 3 games. Away to Pompy is not easy, and anyone can slip up at home.

Agreed, there's me thinking

"Didn't Derby play superbly to draw 0-0 at QPR?"

and thinking

"I'm worried we might not beat Derby at the Madstad."

Norwich are now favourites, of course, but it can change in a flash. WNG, ie today at Leeds and it's back on.

As many have said, maybe Pompey are destined to put us back in the Premiership.

Fate.

Of course it's worth reaching the play offs you silly old plank. I've already ably demonstrated this season that what I suspect at one point in the season doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be relevant all season or come true.

And suspecting we won't go up through the play offs is still a better chance than not being in the play offs at all.

It also raises our profile and encourages our players that we're nearly there and could push on that little bit further next season, so give us another 6 - 12 months. And makes it easier to attract better signings.

Coventry, with their draw at home to Scunny on Good Friday, both made themselves safe and put sixth place irretrievably beyond their reach as they're on 53 points with three games left for them, so they'll play out the string with nothing but their final placement to be determined (and they're the first side to make that claim for 2010/11)

With Scunny dropping 2 points in the same match, it's now 52 to safety and now up to Preston to keep it from inching farther downward

So the defining round of fixtures are almost at an end. It's safe to say that auto looks very unlikely, even if QPR turn this game around. WNG, take momentum into the play-offs. I fancy us against any team in there other than Cardiff if they don't make it to auto.

I do not fancy us at all in the play offs, we have only beaten NF so far from the others in the top 7

You need to beat 2 teams from the other 3 though,
