We let in 7 but Coppell found an excuse to pick the same defence for the next match and no-nothing fans decided to blame Gunnarsson so they could continue to brown nose Shorey. From this day forward relegation was always on the cards.

Wowsa, something that's been as set in stone as could be for months now seems to be up in the air a bit. An Icelandic TV news report just said per their sources Reading will offer him a new deal. They couldn't get a comment from either Reading or KR on it tho, so I'm taking it with a pinch of salt until something more official is released.

Probably, I mean he must be a nice level head to have in the dressing room/around the more inexperienced players, done it before and all that. But IMO IF Reading are offering him a deal (like I said, I'm iffy at best about their "sources") they must be also promising him he'll play some, since in re-signing for Reading he'll be giving up on coming home and playing for my team probably week-in-week-out as much as he's up to it. It has seemed like to me ever since the oral agreement was made that Bryn was looking forward to getting back to playing regularly as much as it was the "coming back home" factor.

I'm pleased regardless of what he does. Yes, it may be putting KR in a bit of a pickle having to replace him so close to the season starting, but knowing that if he doesn't retire at Reading he wants to play for KR again before he hangs it up (I'm deducing from all this that this is what he himself wants) makes me feel good at least.

How does it work, could he resign for Reading but then get loaned to KR for the summer? *grasping at straws to get the best of both*

To close the discussion on him leaving and apparently scooping the official site by my estimation of a quick glance over the recent headlines and the fact that nothing's been posted here yet, Bryn's signed a new 1 year deal.

It's longer by a little bit in the actual paper (which I don't have with me atm so can't directly translate it),in the addition he mainly says his role next season will be similar to thisone, be ready if the manager needs him. Also mentions something along the lines of the setup of the Prem being better (must mean that there's fewer games and thus less strain on him/other players in that sense I recon) and he quips a reference in to older interviews about coming home that he'd said to KR that he'd be back assuming nothing drastic changed. Guess going up was the only thing that could've changed things. Says he's putting that off for a year, but plans haven't changed about which team he wants to come home to play for.

Seriously, with investment into the squad (and central midfield being one of the priorities IMO) there's virtually no chance of him getting significant playing time in the league.

I'd love to have him coaching at the club though. His attitude and professionalism has really been second to none, and his experience and intelligence on the field suggest he might suceed in that role. Love you Brynjar.

He probably realised that he didn't want his last touch in English football to be giving away a penalty in the last minute of the match at Birmingham!

He is now getting to the stage where he is as slow as he looks, so I would be worried about him playing any significant role in the team for the coming season - but he's still a legend.

We may not have Murts right now, but working at the Southampton Academy is good grounding for future work - after all, Brian was "only" a scout to begin with and Nigel Adkins was a spongeman not so very long ago - they're both now Premier League managers. Plenty of time for Murts to work into the role...

I hope this means we wont be offering Mullins a contract. No need for both acting as cover, and we really do need to bring a creative midfielder in to offer something different, and something we're currently lacking.
