Mills - Pearce could be an adequate pairing. If we're to push for promotion next season Pearce should only be back up though.

Skysports.com understands Reading star Ivar Ingimarsson is poised to sign a new deal at the club.

Ingimarsson's current deal is due to expire this summer and he has been offered a one-year extension by the club.

A number of clubs were thought to be weighing up a move for the Icelandic international on a free transfer.

However, Ingimarsson is set to disappoint his suitors by staying on at the Madejski for a further 12 months.

The news will be a boost for Royals boss Brian McDermott as he begins his plans for next season.

32-year-old Ingimarsson has been at Reading since 2003 and he has made over 200 appearances for the club
