What is the Portsmouth line-up tonight? Don't they have just two experienced pro's left on their books? I take it they will make up a squad based on youngsters?

Ah, T-Rex. I do miss his inane Janner rambling. Where has he got to, I wonder? Trolling the Torquay message boards no doubt.

Plmouth may be in a shocking state at the mo but they look positively well run in comparison to Pompey. At least when they went into administration, they cut their cloth and didn't keep spending a division above their status.

Not going to argue with that at all.

Whenever I think of Plyms I recall that fat pcunt who steamed into the travelling Southbank on his own in the pouring rain in 1994.

I'm just trying to offer up an understanding of the odds for tonight's match, and one possible reason for team X being 1.67 at home to mid-August 2012 vintage Portsmouth could be that team X are themselves piss-poor.

I appreciate that, I was just musing that Plymouth are where Portsmouth should be. They went in freefall after administration because they didn't stick 2 fingers up to the CVA and carry on much as they had before.

Judging by the review of Pompey's 3-0 defeat tonight they are looking pretty fcuked. 9 teenage outfield players, 7 of whom had never played 1st team football, plus an ageing coach who got injured. Oh, and a 15 year old amongst the 3 subs. Lingering death looks a possibility.

Hard to read how it might go. It seems that Chainrai's real reason for walking is not just the administrator's fees but also that he's very unhappy at the scale of the player compensation deals of around £8.4m. Very easy for him to blame the administrator, but he's basically just seen his chances of getting his £15m - or even half that - fly out the window. He never had any interest in the club, he just wanted to get his hands on the parachute payments.

The Supporter's Trust bid is now the only one on the table. How they plan to pay that £8.4m plus give the manager a budget of £2.6m this season (twice as big as Chainrai's after he cut it by 3/4) is anyone's guess. And if I am reading it correctly, the administrator now has to go to court to prove that Fratton Park is only worth £2.75m and not a penny more in order for the PST bid to work. None of this is going to be done before Saturday, so it will interesting to see how the FL reacts to all this, especially if they feel - as many do - that even if they start the season, they might not finish it.

I cannot feasibly see how the supporters trust are going to be a success. Where will the money come from to provide a competitive wage and transfer budget every season, let alone as above find the money to pay ex players off. They have to do an awful lot with that budget if they want to put a squad together for the new season.

If you take a 2yr view that's enough to pay the football creditors, Chanrai £2m, administator £1.5m, and other creditors a pittance. They could then run the squad on gate receipts and ST sales. It won't be a competitive squad but at least they'll have one.

That does depend on the other footballing debt claims not happening.
