Royal Ginger Let's send Simon Church! Lol

You are getting very tedious

So I'm the only one that thinks trading our only defensive backup for our twentieth striker is a bad idea?

Pea..need 4 decent strikers ...last seasons goals for figure showed the need to get strikers in ....I don't think we have 4 Prem class strikers currently ...Pog and Roberts are but the jury is out on rest for me...equally not saying Rhodes is the answer and would have preferred Defoe .....and not sure Morrison is ready for the Prem either ...

I'd take Alfie over Rhodes at least and Hunt was excellent at the end of last season and always plays well supporting decent strikers (but struggles alongside average ones) so I think he deserves a chance to play, especially alongside Pogrebnyak

No I agree ... however think Rhodes would be a brilliant bit of business for us seeing as we are going to need natural finishers in our squad. Think we will see some players leaving in the coming weeks such as Manset but from what Church has been saying looks like he wants to stay put and wait for his chance in the PL.

If these rumours are true that Luke Young is signing for us then we have got ourselves a player that can play across most of the back line though I still think we need one more such as Connolly.

We need a proven premier league centre half.

....think Church needs to get a dose of realism...he hardly featured last season ...and with Pog and possibly Rhodes coming in , does he really believe he will get an opportunity as striker number 6 .??...hope BM convinces him that a move away Is best for his career ..imho

 only Hunt played more games than he did... and he was often brought on by Brian instead of Alfie, hardly out of favour

How many games did he start as first choice striker ?

There a mixed bunch those Huddersfield fans. Most think he will stay, yet others clearly see he will go to the Prem.

I think this will be a great signing. He and Pog offer a lot of quality, and different qualities too. Suddenly Roberts would have his work cut out to get a start, and that is just what we want!

Church would be brought on when we were winning (which is why he came on so much as a sub) to do a job; namely, run around a lot, cause the opposition defence some irritation and hold the ball up when it got cleared up field.

ALF got brought on when we weren't winning, in order to get the winning goal (or, as at St Mary's, goals).

Different roles, different skill sets, but which one do you think will be more valuable in a Premier League squad of only 25 players?

We'd need more than Morrison in defence anyway, so this is a positive sign that we'll be strengtherning there with better than him anyway, IMO.

Matt de K Don't forget Morrison being thrown in as the makeweight - probably get £2mil off that £6mil asking price

You don't really get this money stuff do you? If we throw in Morrison as part of the deal then he will be given a cash value - so the price is still the same

A good dozen or so. I think the best any of them managed was about 20.

Fair enough Pea..stand corrected..just didn't seem that much

.. my point about being 6th choice next season remains though, and he'd do well to think about his career as opposed to the proverbial " splinters in a@se" and inflated bank balance over regular first team football somewhere..he isn't in my mind a premiership standard striker..imho

Some guy on Twitter posted this

Juventus bid £8 million for Van Persie. Huddersfield have an asking price of £8 million for Jordan Rhodes. Sums up how stupid that bid is.

..also sums up how deluded the Huddersfield chairman is with valuations....and accepted that RVP is in final year of contract but a proven quality premiership striker being equal in value a proven quality Div 1 striker ...

...reminds me a bit of when Mad valued Long at £10m .....

£8M for Van Persie is an insult (I agree with your point though). £8M for a league 1 striker is mad (even the £7M that Southampton paid for Rodriguez is crazy IMO)

Yep, Rhodes is worth far less than 8 million (8 million  ) but you'd have to consider the whol package to assess the cost of the deal - presumably Juventus would pay RvP a stackload of cash every week.

Still, both valuations make me lol but for totally different reasons.

Agreed Maguire ...Juventus's offer is a peetake but equally Huddersfields valuation is also :D

The only thing that is deluded is you. Let's get the facts straight for starters... Not sure how any message board can manage 43 pages on another clubs player on the whispers of twitter accounts. We as a club have a very wealthy chairman/ owner who does not have to sell unless he decides he wants to.
Jordan Rhodes does not want to leave huddersfield and will only talk to other clubs if he is told they are willing to let him go.
Yes he has ambition to play at a higher level, but he knows he has time on his side and is quite happy to give one season with us in the championship and see how we go.
The simple facts in football are players are moving all the time at inflated prices, that is the nature of the beast and created by the premiership gravy train.
Time will tell if your club do decide to try our clubs resolve, he is our player and as such we can demand whatever price we like as he is the hottest property outside the prem and as we say up here,,,,,"when he plays he scores.".
I hope you all enjoy your place this season back in the big time, but hopefully without our top goal machine......
