Remember, 95% of strikers have their best years 26-27-28 and Shane is, because of his lack
of youth-football experience, "younger" than his 23 years. He has improved his touch massively,
improved his hold-up play massively.


Improve his shooting and you have a top-top player.

cant fault his displays in the last 5-6 games except for his shooting.then hes just sparked into life with 4 in 2 games.finally mcD gets the rewards for giving the lad his extended chance, and showed real faith that must have really given th eboy some confidence.

started off shaky again today, but settled down and took his goals and assist well.
an all round great performance. top top stuff.
really pleased- nothing i like more is a player getting stick and (eventually) shoving it down peoples throats. just hope he keeps it up.

As has been said a lot, Long is a confidence player. Now he's got the goals at Derby and his confidence is back he's flying again.

I always thought I'd be the last to give in to liking Long, but fair play to the lad. 4 goals in 2 games, but more importantly 3 from open play, and both good finishes as well.

I remember Long hit a very good patch last year when he got like 6 in 5 or something at the time after the Liverpool win and Jimmy was sticking them away aswell. But it didnt last, Long started this season on a low again. These 2 games could just be a blip, it's good right now but people seem to think he's all of a sudden changed. Only 3 games ago 80% are slating him.

People should just exagerate a tiny bit less, he was never absolutely terrible and hes still not fantastic, hes just a championship striker who scores goals every so often...

Shane Long is slowly developing into a top striker. He was brilliant again today.
