Starting 11 for Tuesday

by Harpers So Solid Crew » 13 May 2011 22:58

........McCarthy.........

Griffin..Mills...Khizanishvili...Harte

McAnuff...Gunnarsson....Leigertwood

Manset...Church....Long

Go for a quick lead, silence the Cardiff massive, and should it work switch to one up front after 5 mins of the second half, bringing on Tabb and Robson-Kanu for Church and MAnset.

I can only see one potential change(assuming Kebe's not fit) with Howard coming in for Hunt who was all but anonymous yet again tonight. I think Church is a better bet than Hunt or Manset off the bench.
If Jimmy is fit he will come in for HRK but I would keep Hal in and play him alongside Long. Either way we are carrying Hunt and he has to be dropped.

W&E Royal Why are we dropping Federici?

There's no reason to although Mccarthy didn't deserve to be dropped either. We kept a clean sheet tonight so the back 5 will remain unchanged. Not totally happy with that as I think Pearce passes the ball better out of defence than Mills....there really won't be many changes for the second leg.

Assuming Kebe is injured, same team as tonight...with Mansett starting instead of Hunt.
If HRK isn't fit... straight swap for Antonio.
No reason to change anything else as far as i can see (would love to say drop Karacan, but can't justify it)

I'm assuming HRK will be fit. If both Kebe and HRK are out I will start to fret a bit. :(

Too bloody right you can't justify it. Why would you love to say drop Karacan? He was fantastic today and he's come on in leaps and bounds in the last year.

As I said on another thread, I thought EVERY player gave their all tonight and I'm actually a little bit sick and tired of people slagging players off after what they've achieved this season. If we'd been 3-0 down going into Tuesday's game, I could understand some negativity. It's 0-0, they've probably lost Bellamy, we MIGHT get Kebe back - we've overachieving and I, for one, am bloody proud of the players. I loved that game tonight - I nearly lost my voice with all my shouting and singing - THAT was the type of match I'd love to see week in, week out.

would drop mikele in a heartbeat over karacan after tonight. definately his worst performance in a reading shirt by a mile, took too long on the ball and was generally anonymous going forward, although did win quite a few balls back which he lost.

HRK came off with a tight hamstring apparently and has a chance of being available for Tuesday. Think it will just be Howard for Hunt if HRK is fit. If Hal doesn't make it Antonio was so poor against Derby that I think McDermott would play either Hunt or Church wide ahead of him.

Honestly don't know what game people are seeing sometimes, the thread starter just put McCarthy in for no particular reason and didn't say why. Someone wants to drop Jem, who was my MOTM today. Someone else wants to drop Ledge, who according to him had his worst ever game for us???? Really????? I honestly don't get Reading fans, are all fans like us?? Oh, and someone wanted to drop Zurab???? Eh!!!

Feds
Griff
Mills
Khiz
Harte
HRK
Jem
Howard
Ledge
Jobi
Long

No need to give reasons, he should never have been dropped, and IMHO all Feds did was punt the ball forward, reputation and being no 1 got him back after injury.

The idea of a thread like this is to see what kind of team we think might do well in the game ahead. The alternative for me would be start with just Long, and keep it tight in midfield.

That has to be one of the most inane comments I've seen on HNA. Can you try to explain why you want him dropped if you can't justify it?

Completely agree with this. Zurab was quality and ledge is the first name on the team sheet after his performances with us this season

Manset?

Am I the only one in thinking he's completely out of his depth. His performance last night was terrible. just looks clumsy and unfit.

Karacan's burst through the middle and perfectly good pass to Manset went under his foot.
Jobi's cross at the end with the outside of his foot and Manset stood near the 6 yd box watching the ball go by without any attempt to get it.
To name but 2 ...

Manset didn't look right last night but in other games he's done well.

He scored what should have been the winner at Cardiff

He scored the winner at Barnsley.

Maybe the tension got to him. Despite his size he's a kid.

I wouldn't take Manset to Cardiff but only because we don't need him if we start with just long up front (as above).

The failure to take Karacan's pass was a shocker but he'd just been on the deck before Jobi's cross and was on his heels, half a yard too far away to have had a poke. No blame for that one.
