Royals vs Burnley - If you were the manager

If you were in Adkins shoes on Saturday, what would your pre-match team talk be?

I went for the slick passing game not because it's what I think we should do, we're shit at a slick passing game, more that it reflects what I'd like to see from the team most. Reading have played their best football when they've been pressing high up the pitch and taking the game to the opposition, with a few injuries healing up as of late we can have a more organised midfield and really take the game by the scruff of the neck. I don't think Burnley will be on their holidays but they won't have the urgency of needing a result so there will be less onus for them to take control.

Early goal would be huge for us obviously, but will also put more pressure on Brighton (and Wigan if applicable) once word gets out. But as for parking the bus; a big NO-NO, can't put anything to chance on Saturday, so start hard and fast, and then just keep going, regardless of score line.

You've not actually gone for the most obvious one which is start the game with lots of energy and tempo and try to get am early goal. That will be the tactic as it has been pretty much all season.

And no way would we park the bus should we get an early goal. Burnley are too good to allow us to get away with that for 80 mins

Get out there and oxf*rd do them. The first player to show a lack of effort or confidence gets subbed and will have to bone RL. The second player gets done by EIL with a strap on. Third one has to marry Wizard.

Get at them from the off, always be first to the ball, and want it more than they do!

Guthrie's posted a video of him doing keepy-uppy's, so he's either made a spectacular recovery, or not at all worried about making it any worse..

We counter-attack even at home, so counter it is. We need big, huge, massive cojones and they ALL need to bust a sodding gut. I want to see them throwing up come the end of 90+ minutes.

They will score, so early goal and push on.

2-1...hanging on in the 90th.

Definitely get into 'em. Park the bus? What bus? Minibus at best. As for silky skills. Nah, not a game for all that bollox. Just go for the jugular from the outset and let the Prem Boys know we mean business. I'm sure their crew will turn up looking to piss on our parade big time.

Maximum tempo and be direct!

Press hard and as soon as we win in attack the space wide and behind their defense. With our dangermen on the wings, Pog anchoring the center, and Alf nipping about picking up the scraps - we can't fail if we pepper their box with pressure. The crowd will get behind it too!

If we play the patient game Burnley will be comfortable, our fans will get angsty, and it will end badly.

What would you do if it was 0-0 with 10 minutes to go?

Check the Brighton score? Play for the draw and hope it's enough? Go for it so we don't have to worry about Brighton?
What if you check the Brighton score and they are 0-0 with 10 to go as well?

I'd only let them know if we were looking like missing out. Otherwise leave them to it.
