Sounds like he's got the job. Pretty underwhelmed by that. Thoughts?

Likewise.

If it is as good as his, then he was being lined up before Adkins was sacked - and why line up a guy with one relatively unsuccessful job behind him? Clarke built a reputation as a coach at Chelsea and Liverpool, but has none as a manager. Maybe it's those coaching attributes that appeal to the owners.

Correctly whelmed, he did a decent enough job at WBA, not like anyone was expecting a massive name where they?

I think I'm just a bit annoyed that I spunked £40 on our Eamonn.

Speak to West Brom fans about his time there. Even with a good league placing they were not impressed with him.

Yeah, underwhelmed.

VERY happy with that. A good coach and plays a style of football that will suit this club. Think BMcD crossed with Adkins.

Didn't he get West Brom to finish 8th in 2012/13?

He took West Brom to their highest ever Premier League tally of points, is well connected and has an excellent reputation as a coach. Could we do better? Possibly, but this could be a decent appointment.

You're thinking of Romelu Lukaku.

Think this is a decent appointment. Wealth of experience and did well at West Brom in his first season before hitting a rough patch although they were still outside relegation zone when he left there.

Must have oodles of contacts from his time coaching and more contacts than Adkins I would imagine. It's all about results though.

Only Reading fans could be underwhelmed by Clarke. We're not going to get a proven experienced manager at a club like this, in the state we're in. Clark is probably the best appointment we could make. Very pleased if this is true!

Yeah but we've got Nick Blackman, so my point stands

He did, but they started like a train (won 8 and drew 2 of their first 13 games). They only won 6 games after the end of November, and had won 8 out of 41 when he was sacked.

It certainly shows the ambition of the club moving forward.

Whelmed. Good managerial record, excellent coach. iirc when we appointed Adkins I said I would prefer Clarke but thought him an unrealistic appointment (full disclosure: Adkins was my realistic external appointment of choice).

I'd prefer Dolan, but now is not the right time. He can get it when we're doing well and someone pinches Clarke.

looks like we can make the Clark/Clarke confusion similar to Atkins/Adkins.

so I'm happy.
