Interesting stats

by JC » 24 Aug 2015 08:48

Picking up on something I spotted on the BBC I dug out stats on shots this season for our division.
Unusually we have had the most shots in our 4 games at 69 and the least against us at 21. The latter is the lowest in the division by a considerable way the next lowest being 35. Normally you would expect stats like that to convert into positive results

Just goes to confirm our defence is solid and how poor our shooting is

A lot of our shots are from outside the box which most team will defend comfortably.

The midfield need to get forward to support the front men as there are not enough players in or around the box when good chances are created.

About 10 of those shots must be Norwood dollying direct freekicks into the goalies' hands from 30 yards.
Let Quinn take some.

I was thinking at the match if we had someone else who could take set pieces. We don't threaten from set pieces enough.

I think it really makes a difference to have a deadly technician in this league. Speaking of which I see Hull are in for Shaun Maloney. Why can't we get someone like that in?

You could say the same about any league. But our set pieces have been shite since Harte left.

Obita and McAnuff's corners varied from terrible to great and we scored a fair few from them iirc.

Plenty of good football played in the lower leagues. Improved quality of pitches is a major contribution. Along with number of premier league loanees.
