Reading boss Brian McDermott taking 'emotion' out of results

Well that's encouraging then and gives us all a great lift !

Yeah. Football without emotion. Great idea. Perhaps we fans should be respectfully silent after a goal. Just so we don't disturb the concentration of the playing and management staff.

Don't throw yourself under a bus after losing to Ipswich seems pretty good advice to me, some on here might want to heed it

Interesting subject and im not sure i agree with our Bri here. Surely if you take the emotion out then you run the risk of people not giving a Fuk ?
Cant see as that is gonna help much !

Keep a single defeat in perspective.

But keep 8 points from a possible thirty in perspective also - that's bøllocks and everyone should be angry, not unemotional.

+1

Terrible form and really not acceptable.

It's time to start getting fired up and wanting to drag ourselves out of this slump.

Probably why Brian didn't say that then

Granted - Reading were doing better under Clarke. However, what do Reading fans honestly expect? Spoilt really for a three seasons (was it?) in the top flight and most fans expect you to be there or challenging all the time. Sustained Championship level football for Reading is some achievement from where you came from. Get a grip people.

Absolutely. He's not even talking about the fans anyway. Certainly not in anything quoted in the article.

Christ there are some drama queens on here.

Can't believe anyone would think there's anything wrong with what he said. I can only only assume those complaining don't actually understand what he's said.

Knock me down with a feather, I agree to an extent, but most fans (myself included) expect us to be challenging at the top end of the table every season because that is mainly what we have done since promotion to this level in 2002:-

02/03 - 4th, playoff S/F
03/04 - 9th, chance of playoff qualification on final day
04/05 - 7th, chance of playoff qualification on final day
05/06 - 1st. Need I say more?
06/07 - PL
07/08 - PL
08/09 - 4th - playoff S/F
09/10 - 9th, late season charge showing potential of squad had it been sustained for the whole season
10/11 - 5th, playoff final
11/12 - 1st. Need I say more?
12/13 - PL
13/14 - 7th - chance of playoff qualification on final day

Having said that, I think most reasonable minded supporters understand and accept what we had, and therefore appreciate what we have now, but I don't think it's right that we should sit back and accept "sustained Championship level football". Every club and its supporters has to aspire to something greater, otherwise what's the point of all of this?

Of course there should be emotion connected with results for the players and staff :| Do people come home from a difficult day at work laughing and smiling about it? I suspect not. Some terrible nonsense there from Brian, trying to hide the elephant in the room of sustained poor results in the face of a big, big spend on resources.

That said, some of the disrespect shown towards him from some of the ****ers who associate themselves with our great club on social media and on here is a ****ing disgrace. He is one of our best ever managers, show him some respect you twats :!:
