MATCHWATCH : Queen's Park Rangers (a) sponsored by only 1 true hoop

by Sutekh » 15 Oct 2016 10:47

Today sees the short trip up the M4 to the smoke to see what should be classed as derby match. Eighty four league games between the two sides down the years yet despite this, and the reasonable distance between the two teams, the only real thing of any note is a pointless niggle on who has the right to play in hoops.

As for to today's game, Rangers have injuries to both left backs; Jake Bidwell and Jack Robinson plus one time Reading loanee Jamie Mackie.

Jordan Cousins is expected to start ahead of Yeni Ngbakoto on the right side of midfield.

Other than that they have no injuries or suspensions from what I can see

Reading are at full strength, with only Williams a slight doubt as he only returned from international duty on Thursday, as Blackett is back from suspension and Cooper and Meite are back after injury although tis game is too early for them to feature.

Bit of a cr@p league record against QPR recently. Reading have 1 win in 8 having lost 3 and drawn 4 of the other games in that time.

Full league record at their place is 11 wins and 12 draws from 42 visits. 72 goals have been conceded while replying with a rather meagre 41.
Best goal tally there is the 6 put past them in August 1961 which was revenge for the 5 we let in there the season before that.

Evening Post predicted line ups :

QPR: Smithies, Onuoha, Hall, Caulker, Perch, Henry, Cousins, Luongo, Borysiuk, Chery, Poulter.

Reading: Al-Habsi, Gunter, Moore, McShane, Obita, Williams, van den Berg, Swift, Beerens, McCleary, Kermorgant.

Referee

Taking "charge" today is Staffordshire's Stephen Martin

Previously under Mr Martin

15 Mar 2016 > Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 Reading
23 Jan 2016 > Reading 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday
19 Sep 2015 > Bristol City 0-2 Reading
25 Mar 2014 > Reading 1-3 Barnsley

Flag bearers for the occasion are David Avent and Darren Blunden
Spare official is Trevor Kettle

So we're not at full strength.

There were comments on the FBook page referencing a 28 minute applause in honour of my Son Jamie who past away two weeks ago.
Does anyone know if this is happening today please?
I cant make the game and if it does can anybody video it for me please?
Thanks

HT and we are sitting in 7th position. I thought we would go the whole of the 1st half without committing a foul but Williams messed that up in the 40th minute. We seem to be getting caught offside a lot (according to the BBC text)

This is finely balanced. Could go either way, end to end stuff.

Seem to be struggling going forward. Either offside a lot or no-one in the box to follow up on chances that are created or break free

Obita replacing Blackett.

Wonder if Samuel will get any time today...

A whole lot of anyone who does make it into the box not being in the right place. Unsurprising given how little time we spend there, how few decent chances we create when we do get there and how mediocre our striking options are.

Would love to 'see' Samuel get 15 - 20 minutes on upfront.

Agree on the follow ups, but we are creating, just need to stick it in the net! QPR have had chances & Mcleary, Swift and Kermie all gone close.
