Looking at those teams in pot 2 can we hope that there might be some competitive games in the early group stages even if the 2 top seeds in each group are expected to get through?

At least being in the depths of our winter there will be no Summer sports distractions for us.
In 1966 there was a full local cricket programme for the day of the final and but for bad overnight weather I would have missed watching live the only time that we have ever won it.

What an appropriate day to have the draw. It's been a fool's errand from the moment Qatar were awarded it.

I really hope Iran get a good draw, definitely want them to face USA. I remember at France 98 (I think) when they played eachother the Iranian team went on a charm offensive before the game and delivered gifts to the Americans on the pitch. I believe it was a bunch of flowers for all the players and a framed photo of the Ayotollah. They then procded to kick the living shit out of team USA once the game started.

For all the shitness of Qatar/human rights/a World Cup in December, I'm looking forward to the tournament and will watch every second.

As always appears to be the case, everyone will be hoping for Switzerland/USA as a pot 2 draw. As Winst highlights, Senegal are probably the dangerous team in Pot C.

Hopefully Qatar get a strong Pot B side, to stop their group becoming too soft. Can see Canada maybe springing a surprise or two.

Down to Poland in 26th in the FIFA rankings, only Italy (6), Colombia (17) and Sweden (19) have missed out, albeit Wales (18) and Peru (22) still to play.

Question - Wales are ranked above Senegal, has the postponement of their play-off relegated them to pot 4 so that the draw can be carried out? Not that it makes much difference, but they'd be in pot 3 on ranking alone.

Yep Wales are of a sufficient ranking to be in pot 3 but FIFA in their wisdom chose to base the final European play off place based on Scotland’s ranking of 39.
