Cisse

Whats your feeling about Cisse?

I think he has some pace and sometimes looks the part but i'm not convinced at all by what I have seen. Perhaps another one for the future?

I don't think he is good enough to run the show in the Coca Cola and will be a back up to the first team.

My feeling is he was another mistake signing and when his contract expires we will let him go.

As previously mentioned, a total reluctance to head the ball is not he best trait to have in the CCC

Personally i think he looked as good as anyone at centre half in the few games he did play up until an awful game against Villa. Unfortunately as is Coppell's way at times , he was immediately jettisoned when others were given plenty more opportunities to fail.

There seems to be a general consensus on here that he's not good enough in the air to be a centre half although i seem to be in a minority of 1 in that i haven't seen the same problem (other than that Villa game) and have seen him make plenty of defensive headers.

Jury is still out but suspension and injury curtailed his early season so in effect he's had little more than half a season with us so far.

Bit of an enigma really - can't pass, can't head, bit slow but he can tackle. I don't know where his best position is. Played a blinder against Man U at the Mad Stad in defence coupled with a good second half against Spurs in the Cup replay where he was also in central defence, but then his limitations as a centre half were exposed in the games after those. Didn't really cut it in midfield earlier in the season. So, he needs to work on his heading if he's to play in defence, particularly in the CCC as hitting the ball high and long will be a common tactic of most teams in this division, and/or work on his passing if he's to play in the middle.

Can't the ball to play centre half.

Not a good enough footballer to play centre mid.

Get rid, along with Fae and Kebe. Better of playing the likes of Pearce, than Cisse.

I haven't seen much of him, but it looks like he could be an athletic, solid defensive midfielder. He could almost be a less impressive version of Momo Sissoko or Patrick Vieira. If that is the case he would be the perfect partner for Matejovsky. Cisse does the defensive covering, wins the ball or picks it up from the back line and plays a simple pass to Matejovsky, who gets the attack started.

I'm not convinced that a 26-year old has much of a learning curve left.

To be fair he's only played around half a season in English football (half a dozen or so games at centre half) so still think theres scope for improvement.

Decent enough for the Championship, don't agree with the levels of stick he gets on here given the performances of other players in the squad. Better option than Harper and Gunnarsson in central midfield and probably within our top four centre backs right now ahead of Sonko.

Well he doesn't get sent off every other game

Certainly agree that there is scope for improvement, but do we have the time to let him adjust to Championship football?

Not overly convinced over the love-in for the Man U game either - while he seemed pretty secure in the first half I seem to remember it being a pretty basic mistake that let Rooney in.

He is a fair CM and a good CB, played some great matches for us at that position and should definitely play a major role in next season's side.

Or give Spurs five of their six goals on a plate at White Hart Lane.

Doesn't get that much stick to be honest.

It should also be borne in mind that unlike most of the squad he was bought for the Premiership.

I don't like how an opinion that he can't pass has been formed just because he doesn't rake cross-field passes every two seconds or run about a lot like Harper. He retains possession far better than any of our other midfielders apart from maybe Matejovsky, plays the simple ball, wins the ball back for the team and covers the defence well. As for him being slow, the ball was given away at Upton Park by the West Ham with Cisse near their penalty area and they then broke at full pace - guess who was back in time to head clear as soon as their cross came in? Cisse.

He's not a great header of the ball, but he can control and play the short pass. He's got good bite in the tackle, although he does occasionally dive in when exposed. And he's quicker than he looks. I think he'll make a decent Championship midfield player given the ooportunity.

Not as good a central defender as Iver, Dubbery, Sonko or Bikey. He has pace when he gets going but that's about it for me.

Can't believe anyone would suggest he's better than Harper or Gunnarsson as a central midfielder when every game he played in there for us last season the game just passed him by. He gave the ball away far too much for a Premiership midfielder and he was just way off the pace.

He might cope better in the middle in the Championship, expecially after having a bit more experience of the pace of the game over here.

I really can't see him getting much of a game next season apart from to fill in when others are missing (or perhaps sold on).

Too slow upstairs for me and not good enough on the ball. He might have the physical attributes of a Viera or Sissoko but without a brain to get anywhere near their level football ability it hardly matters.

Don't think the Championship will take that much adjusting too, for me its just the physicality of English football in general. Unlike most i don't think he has that much of a problem with the aerial stuff either.

I'd put it down to top drawer delivery and movement really, the sort of goal most teams would concede. My view of the game is that up against the most potent attacking threat in the country he was outstanding. Of course you can't judge just on that 1 game anymore than the Villa one , but there was certainly enough there to suggest he has the attributes to be more than good enough at this level.
