real toughie, good question gus. to be honest, i have no idea. my instinct is to say yes, definitely. kitson is the better player. but noel is much more of a tryer, and he is certainly well-suited to this division, and unlike kitson he does play as a striker, and not as a striker-cum-midfielder-cum-defender who roams around doing as he pleases. also, in terms of attitude, clearly dave was a negative influence last year, and noel doesn't really seem like the kind of chap who'd do that kind of thing, and last season showed quite clearly that team unity is integral to the way that reading perform.

on the whole, i think i find myself leaning towards keeping hunty. which i wouldn't have expected to say, to be honest.

I'd want a doctor to have a really good look at some x-rays of Kitson's knees before I made any decision...

Good answer and just about sums up what I think as well.

No.

Kitson was fabulous in his day (has he ever really recovered from the injury at 'Boro?)...but this is here and now.

NHunt works brilliantly with the players we have now. Why look back. We are going forward.

You may as well ask if Robin Friday would suit our current line-up.

Good question.

The age plays a big part. Noel's 25, Kitson's 28.

I'd pick Noel because of that, and because I think hes got big potential, and will grow as a player. I dont think Kitson can improve too much.

Kitson for Long on the other hand...

That's it in a nutshell. Kitson isn't likely to make any great leap in ability or performance. Noel on the other hand just might.

Currently we seem to have a gang of Irish lads absolutley loving playing together. We're probably getting more out of each of them because they are together than we would otherwise. I suspect the future of each is entwined with that of the others.

If we took one of them away I fear it would eman we'd get less from the others, and probably increase the risk of the others deciding to move on.

I don't think Kitson would bring anything like that sense of camaraderie and in fact would probably find it hard to be accepted back into our tight knit squad.

In terms of ability I'd say Kitson has more, but in terms of what he'd bring to the team (and what we'd lose) I don;t think there is any way a Kitson / Hunt swap would be sensible - therefore Pulis would find the conversation cut short.

In pure footballing terms, absolutely.

Nobody's ever going to pay 5.5million for Noel Hunt for fairly obvious reasons. Kitson would score a hatful in this league.

Hunt's looking very likely to score more than Kitson did last time he was in this league.

And I'd bet Hunt would at least score one in the Prem !!

No, never.

Kitson is to mouthy and unsettled the camp last season, along with one or two others. Noel doesn't appear to be like that at all, thankfully, and is as, if not more profilic in his goals to game ratio so far, and not unjury prone.

Kitson's scored at least one in the Prem :-S

He's just a more talented footballer than N. Hunt IMHO. He'd keep Hunt out of the team if he was still here.

Keep Noel Hunt definitely - without a doubt - purely for attitude and eagerness. There is absolutely no problem with our selection of forwards at the moment.

a definate no.

Noel's attitude and application is far better than Kitson's. On his day tho Kitson was a better player, there is no doubt about that.

Like most players that leave Reading it ruins their careers, Kitson won't ever recover from this. Lets hope the likes of Hunt and Doyle look at Nicky Shorey, Dave Kitson, Sonko, Sidwell and Little (the last 2 to a certain extent) and get put off by their downfalls.

Kitson is clearly the better player and although I am not totally convinced about Hunt yet, he is the first 'out and out' striker we have had since Cureton. I'd ask Pulis to swap Kitson for Long and he might have a deal.

What is this bizarre obsession with Tony Pulis on here?!

Who next? Joe Royle? Barry Fry? Alan Pardew?

Well, maybe it is because none of the other names could offer Kitson in exchange for Hunt since they don't have him in their teams. Just maybe.

Because Pardew ringing up and offering Kitson in a swap wouldnt be bizarre at all.

It is February 2009 and in a surprise switch the transfer window has seen Dave Kitson return to his old club Reading in exchange for Noel Hunt. The move fails to galvanise Kitson however as he continues to struggle to find his first goal for over a year. Reading`s form and team spirit suffers to the extent that a top half finish now looks fanciful.
Hunt however turns out to be the perfect foil for Sidebe and Fuller as a top half finish beckons for Stoke. Pulis reckons Hunt`s goals and clever link up play can take Stoke to the Cup Final in May.
Are you;
a Getting behind Kitson in an effort to help him rediscover his form?
b Booing Kitson?
c Planning to attend the Coppell Out demonstration at the Manager`s parking space?
