Team for Burton Albion

by peeping bernal » 06 Aug 2009 22:36

With a good list of players called up for next weeks internationals what sort of team could we manage to put out? With quite a few of the players we would expect to see on a big cup night like this away on duty we will end up with a team in nappies instead of been able to keep a consistent team together to gel with the new system.
On a plus point it is good to see the quality of players we have in our squad that we get so many called up.

Robson-Kanu can't play either. He's in the U20 squad.

Why the oxf*rd are carling cup games scheduled in for an international midweek? Surely we should be allowed to postpone the game, as you used to do in the old div 1, if you had more than 3 called up, when only the Prem got the week off for an international.

Why have this thread open BEFORE we have played Forest?

For a change, BR could play the oldies in order to give them a game

..................Hamer
...Rosenior, Pearce, Mills, Armstrong
..................Harper
..........Gunnarsson, Davies
Henry,..........................Bertrand
..................Mooney

Subs: Federici, Siggurdsson, Tabb, NHunt, err? (possibly plus two more errs?)

Lot of players unavailable. Kebe, HRK, Church, Long and SHunt all away leaves us desperately short of wingers. Mind you, Cisse away leaves us deperately short of defenders and we're not exactly packed full of striking options either.

Thought I read in the programme today that Kelly is still injured. Good call on Baggie though.

Hope he performs fantastically and keeps Rosenior out for the rest of the season then.

Rodgers said on the radio this morning that he'll put out his strongest sides in the league and the FA Cup (thank god) but that the League Cup will provide a chance for those on the fringes of his team to get 90 minutes and stake a claim for a shirt.

He also said that having 9 players away on international duty forces his hand and limits his options a little bit.

It's not a "full" international week, as such we aren't obligied to let the players go, but we are unlikely to stop them.

Feel the Football League missed a trick here and should have scheduled these games last week - would have given the cup a boost as the season opener for the FL.
