With all due respect to the club's usual policy of taking "time and care", we really don't have time available. We need somebody from the outside to come in and sort us out - somebody who can offer something that has been missing in 2009. Ferguson was our first choice in the summer, he's available now. Stop wasting time and get him in. McDermott hasn't done enough to earn the job. He's made us worse.

Nobody come out with this "cheap option" rubbish. Ferguson is free to sign. Will he demand much higher wages than Rodgers did? Is it not cheaper to pay a higher wage yet stay in the Championship? Have we not already seen Madejski take the less cheap option when he dismissed Rodgers? I don't buy the club taking this "cheap option" rubbish with decisions such as this.

Bring in Fergusion ASAP in time for the Liverpool game so he can assess the squad over a couple of weeks training before the really important league business starts.

The one consolation as I watched the score mount up on SSN was that surely Madejski must act now. He was far too quick to sack Rodgers, but now every day he delays installing the new Manager is a day too long. Dowie, Hoddle or even Ferguson should be appointed by the weekend, although the longer Sir John dawdles, the more Ideal and his ilk may realise you should be careful what you wish for. I never doubted that Rodgers would steer Reading to mid-table safety: now, relegation is a real possibility unless Madejski acts fast and chooses well.
