I'd be more worried about a lower Championship team chasing Bindon as an immediate upgrade. Hull for example...

I'd also suggest the Reading players pass the ball to a team member
Not at the game then? If you were you'd realise just how strong and gusty the wind is (Adams Park is windswept even when the weather is good). Both teams struggled with passing and the Wycombe keeper turned into a rugby player, constantly kicking into touch, until he gave up and started kicking straight down the middle, letting the wind decide whether to take it left or right!
In the first half the wind caught a long ball forward as it bounced up and almost over JP and into the goal. He just managed to knock it down with one hand and grab it before turning to the Royals supporters behind his goal, grinning and gesturing with his hand for them to calm down!

Agents would doubtless scream restraint of trade, although with countless other clubs to choose from then that might be difficult to litigate.
It's quite a common clause.
I'm surprised it's still a thing given how little input most managers seem to have in making signings.

That's interesting. Now watch a big club sign Bindon only for them to immediately loan him out to Hull for remainder of season.
Only for the Jan window, not 12 months
This is really bizarre. If Noel says we are likely to sell players in January, why would the owners block Selles from buying?
Seems that they would only care about getting the highest price they can so eliminating one potential buyer really makes no sense.
Cant believe they give a fortune cookie about optics.

Maybe they've accepted Binden and Garcia are going, so this blocks Hull coming in for Smith, Knibbs, Wing etc, who are worth more to us than we're likely to get in fees and are also unlikely to attract much interest from elsewhere.

I'd also imagine that the squad have quite a strong affinity with Ruben so, maybe the chance to go to a club managed by someone they get on with, playing a style football they are comfortable with, at a club that isn't a complete basket case might appeal.

WHy would there be such a clause anyway ?
A club can refuse to sell a player to anyone without putting a clause in a contract.
Not if the player's contract has a break clause based on fee

Just because Earnshaw has said he's been told it's true, it doesn't mean it's true. As you rightly say, it makes no sense for a team to restrict who it can sell it's own players to, especially if it is in the mood for selling.

I'd say its very likely true...Earnshaw doesn't put stuff out unless its pretty much factual.

Presumably just trying to demonstrate that the club intend to fight to hang on to all the players, even though deals have probably already been more or less agreed behind the scenes with bigger clubs than ‘ull. And it’s possibly more to stop Selles getting ‘ull to bid for up and coming less widely noticed talent before it does become more noticed.

Hopefully that would be enough to buy us another 6 months or so without weakening the team. Then just need to guys to perform miracles to win the play offs and our immediate future is secure in the Championship.

Don’t think it would make any difference to an unsettled player. The wisdom seems to be that you can’t keep a player who wants to go. If, as you suggest, there might be players who fancy a relegation battle with a manager spending several months finding his feet at a club where they might be replaced by a random Turk at any moment then is forcing them to stay the answer ?

Can`t find it myself but a friend of mine sent it to me on whatsapp where James Earnshaw said he understands that part of the deal to let Selles go contained an agreement where he couldn`t come back for any of our players next month.
He sent a screenshot of the post too.
Might be BS but it`s out there anyway.
