Well - that was enjoyable! We played football! Fulham were poor but they were not that bad. They contributed to a lively start by both sides but once Murray scored (with a brave diving header from a great Obita cross) and once they were down to 10 men (red card looked harsh to me) they lost heart and looked like a team devoid of confidence. Having said that, they were denied goals by a superb last ditch challenge by Gunter and again by a great save by Feds diving low to his left. Fulham also enjoyed about 15 minutes of supremacy in the game after we scored our second and then, predictably but frustratingly, eased off.

But today was all about Reading and I was impressed by the way we passed the ball - both long and short - and the fact that we were playing at pace! Fantastic debut by Murray who looks like a real striker and linked up really well with Cox and Mackie (who has more pace than his frame suggests!) considering they have had little time to get to know each others' game. It's difficult not to give MOTM to Murray so I will, but both Gunter and Obita shone as well. In fact there was hardly a weak link in the team today although Akpan (and I am not one of the Akpan haters) didn't seem to be as quick of thought as the other midfielders and slowed the game down when in possession.

Murray will have been disappointed to have been substituted - as he was probably looking forward to a hat-trick against a tiring 10-man side towards the end of the game - but I though NA needed to make those substitutions to disrupt that Fulham period of pressure. Pog headed (or was it deflected?) onto the bar and we had one other simple chance (I couldn't see who it fell to) which was blasted straight at their keeper (who also had a good game) from close-range when it looked easier to score. Edwards provided an injection of energy which we needed and Blackman provided the third goal.

Glenn Murray scored two goals on his debut as Reading comfortably beat 10-man Fulham to pile more pressure on manager Felix Magath. The striker, on loan from Crystal Palace, headed in Jordan Obita's cross before Fulham debutant Matt Smith was sent off for a lunge on Hope Akpan.

Murray doubled the lead when he nodded home Obita's corner from close range. Substitute Nick Blackman sealed the win late on to leave Magath's men with a fifth loss in six league games.

The Cottagers have now slipped to the bottom of the Championship and sections of the travelling support made their feelings clear with calls for the German to be sacked at the end of the match.

Any hopes of Fulham claiming their first league win of the season were rendered almost impossible inside the first 20 minutes at the Madejski Stadium as they found themselves a goal and a man down before having the chance to settle into the game.
