FANS' POST MATCH OPINION

Although a draw was better than I hoped for I came away really disappointed. We deserved to win after dominating the first half and the last quarter and it was only during a shaky 20 mins after Fed gifting them their first that we looked like conceding. Added to that the equaliser was scored in the 6th minute of 4 mins added time and the free kick was soft to say the least. Terrible ref who was inconsistent throughout with both teams. Both our goals were well taken and great to see the recent signings showing their worth. To add insult to injury the Welsh even contrived to close the M4 on the way home!

This was a good point against an expensively assembled side and a cracking game to boot. I was delighted with how many problems we caused Cardiff - Kebe was back to something approaching his best, MacAnuff played with intelligence and the two lads in the middle were top drawer again. I have criticised Karacan recently for his wastefulness when in possession but he had a stormer last night, top drawer.
I will tell you who isn't top drawer - Federici. Quite frankly appaling error for the first equaliser, he doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes as he also directly cost us a goal against Forest this season. Late in the game he also parried a tame looking Bellamy effort from an angle into the middle of a crowded 6 yard box only for Burke (IIRC) to spare his blushes with a quite astonishing Steve Stone-style miss. Federici was quite to furiously balme his defenders after his original howler which displeased me no end because he should have held his hands up.
Stone-wall foul for the equaliser. Cardiff had about 5 forwards on by the end and resorted to long ball and through sheer weight of numbers we gave away a freekick which a player of Bellamy's quality is always going to get on target. Right result really which sets us up for Friday night.

QUOTES FROM THE PRESS

A last-gasp Craig Bellamy stunner saved Cardiff City an unlikely Championship point in their promotion push with a draw against defiant Reading... Long was... replaced by Noel Hunt after struggling for a few minutes - but Reading reacted positively and took the lead in the 21st minute. Jimmy Kebe twisted inside left-back Lee Naylor before cutting the ball back to the edge of the area. Leigertwood arrived late to drill in a low shot which took a huge deflection off defender Paul Quinn to wrong foot Heaton and find the corner. Bellamy tested Federici with a low shot from the edge of the area as Cardiff looked to respond before Federici reacted well to claw a header off the line.

Michael Chopra came off the bench at half-time and his side were level within three minutes of the restart. Federici made a mess of a straight-forward drop-kick clearance and the ball fell to the feet of Bothroyd just inside his own half. And the England international strode into the area, shrugged off covering Matthew Mills to round the hapless Australian goalkeeper and pass the ball into an empty net. Bothroyd's 17th goal of the season showed why Cardiff were so desperate to fend off January transfer window bids from the Premier League and keep their talismanic goal-scorer.

Chopra was looking lively after his introduction and dragged a shot wide on the turn as the hosts pushed on for a winner. And they came desperately close when Hudson floated a header onto the crossbar and Chopra saw his follow-up bravely blocked by Ian Harte. Harte then flashed a free-kick across the face of goal before Cardiff substitute Chris Burke wasted a great chance. Returning hero Aaron Ramsey, back at Cardiff on loan from Premier League giants Arsenal, beat his man and thumped in a low shot which Federici beat away to the penalty spot. Burke arrived quickly but could not adjust his feet quickly enough as he slapped a shot over the bar. Manset, a January signing from League Two strugglers Hereford, came off the bench to score his first Championship goal when Hunt crossed from the right for a tap in. Bellamy's late, late show - from a debatable free-kick - was sublime as the Wales striker curled the ball past Federici from 30 yards out to earn Cardiff a point and Reading their 12th league draw this season.
