READING TEAM: Shakka, Jones, Taylor, Wdowczyk, Macca, Parkinson, Gilkes, Gooding, Quinn, Lovell, Lambert (Hartenberger).
We was robbed.
We travelled to Bolton with only about half a real team. Readings
injuries problems are serious. For this game 9 of our 24
strong squad were ruled out: Bernal (groin), Osbourn (knee)
included. And both Wdowczyk and Lovell played despite being no
where near fit. The squad is in urgent need of strengthening.
This defeat was the first in eight games.
Bolton started the brightest and their goal, which turned out to be the winner) came from their first corner. The ball come across and was hoofed towards goal nicely on target but Shakka was nicely in the way. Unfortunately he couldnt stop Coleman tapping the rebound home from just a few yards out.
After that we came into the game and did easily enough to draw the game if not get all 3 points. We could have scored on the half hour when Lambert broke away - but his shot was saved. The start of the second half saw Reading equalize. Well thats what it should have been but due to reasons best known to himself the referee disallowed it. Quinn got the ball and was legging it towards goal with a Bolton defender right on him. The defender put in a bad challenge but Quinn steadied him self and blasted the ball into the back of the net. The away support went mad, and we were level. Or were we? Not in the eyes of the ref, for some bloody stupid reason he dragged play back to give the foul to the Royals for the challenge on Quinn. What ever happened to the advantage rule?
We continuted pressing in the dying minutes but the goal didn't come - Hartenberger coming on as sub and blasting one over the bar. It really was one of those days.
