report
|
Reading put out another fine performance at Cardiff City - despite having already wrapped up the season with a record breaking promotion and Championship title win with five games left. Cardiff were desperate for points in a final bid to attempt to keep in touch with the play-off places but Reading effectively ended Cardiff's season with yet another professional performance as they hit in five goals away from home. With the record of 105 Championship points still within reach, Steve Coppell opted for another strong line-up and the team put in a performance typical of the season as they aim to hit 100 league goals. The Royals were two goals up at the break, and the game was effectively won. James Harper got Reading underway after ten minutes before Kitson put Reading in control before half time. The second half was Cardiff show signs of a come back after an own goal had put Reading three goals up. Cardiff made it 2-3 with ten minutes left to play before Kevin Doyle headed home and Harper scored his second to restore the margin to three clear goals. |
