Leroy Lita discovered after the game he'll face a three match ban for an alleged head butt against Fulham's El Karkouri. The Fulham player did as much as he could to get Lita sent off - rolling around in false agony after none or minimal contact from Lita. It wasn't the first time the player had put on some excellent acting - and he was probably lucky not to go in the book himself earlier in the fixture. Up front Lita was again Reading's strongest threat after he was paired with Long as Coppell rotated the squad. However, there were few chances - the best of which came to Reading but weren't taken as Reading completed four Premiership games with the return of just one goal.
Lita was lively early on as Reading created the first chance. Down the other end Fulham hit the underside of the crossbar as they threatened to take the lead. It was to be their best chance of the game in a lively encounter that lacked serious goalmouth action. Steve Sidwell hit the ball not far over as Reading started to dominate the fixture in the second half. The Royals enjoyed nearly all the possession but failed to break through. Stephen Hunt nearly claimed the win with a header just wide of the post but the game could have gone either way at the end as Charlton had a similar headed chance they failed to score. |
