Yet more promising play from the Royals. The right spirit and a truely battling second half performance - but again no joy and the wrong result - that see's Reading propping up the rest of the division yet again. 0-3 didn't do the Royals justice. But unfortunately at the end of the season it'll be the points that count and nothing else, and this result see's Reading even closer to Division Two. It's going to be hard to survive but performances like this must leave us with some hope still. We must beat 'Boro on Monday or it's curtains though.
An early goal probably settled the game from the start as Charlton took the lead after just 6 minutes. But with Reading coming into the game our fate was pretty much sealed within the first half. Charlton won a controversial free kick outside the area. Caskey rightfully protested and got a yellow card for his troubles and then the free kick was curved into the back of the net.
Reading were by far the better team of the second half but failed to make the chances count before Charlton scored their third against the run of play.
Add to that injuries to McIntyre and Legg that'll keep them out for the rest of the season and the picture just gets more depressing.
More info here soon.
