report

Despite going down 1-2 at in-form Liverpool this weekend, it was clear that Reading have emerged from their bad run as a side well capable of retaining their Premier League status at the end of the season. This was a narrow away defeat, and Reading may have claimed a point with their determination, against a side that are flying. The Royals got off to an excellent start when Oster crossed from a free-kick to find Matejovsky well outside the area and unmarked. Matejovsky hit it first time to send an amazing effort fizzing into the ner for his first goal for the Royals. A goal of nearly the same style and quality saw Liverpool pull level 14 minutes later. Torres scored a free header after the break to complete Liverpool's turn around and put them ahead. However, it wasn't plain sailing for the home side as Reading attempted to secure an equaliser in the final minutes. There was a strong appeal for a penalty after substitute Kitson's goal bound effort struck the arm of Gerrard. Liverpool held on but it was another encouraging performance from the Royals. |
