report

Despite having already wrapped up both promotion to the Premiership and the 2005/2006 Championship title, Steve Coppell fielded a strong team as Reading visited promotion hunting Leeds United. The home side needed a win to prevent Sheffield United securing the last automatic promotion spot behind the Royals - and they looked set to get the three points after a slow start from Reading. Reading looked a little off the pace early on and things got worse when they went a goal down just after the break. The arrival of Hunt and Long off the bench saw Reading turn the game around with a much improved period of play before Ingimarsson set up Hunt to grab a late equaliser. Hunt's effort from close range saw Sheffield United promoted and Leeds destined for the play-offs. |
