Own Goal (43rd Minute)
Reading Move Back Into A Play Off Position!
After the dissapointment on Saturday giving 3 goals away in such a dire second half it was vital to get all 3 points against Luton to set us up for a place in the play offs. And with Barnsley losing by a goal at Grimsby we reclaimed our rightful 5th place in the table, this couldn't have been a better result.
The away support was magnificant... 2,000 away supporters outshoutting the Luton crowd all the way through the game and cheering the lads to a great victory. The first half was spent soaking up Luton pressure as they attempted to break down our defence. The goal came on the break. Osbourn got the ball on the wing and legged it wide before crossing the ball into Adie Williams. Adie stooped low and headed it goal direction. Some Luton defender got in the way and the ball went sailing off into the back of the net to give us the lead at half time.
Reading were more in it in the second half and managed to continue looking safe at the back. Hanging on to such a precious goal set up a very nervy last five minutes as Luton piled forward looking for the equalizer which never game. A series of corners in the last few minutes were successfully handled by Shaka and everyone went home happy (well not the Luton supporters!) The win puts us three points above Barnsley in the play off spot... Barnsley have a game in hand and superior goals scored however. I think we can make it. It would be useful to hit about 6 past Bolton on Friday though.
