Reading climbed back into the top half of the Premiership table with a straight forward victory over a poor Charlton side. The Royals didn't need to put in their best performance but showed enough good football over the ninety minutes to cruise to victory against the side bottom of the table. Reading, at times, played some attractive passing football and created the best chances - enough to make them look a class above the visitors. At times the game was scrappy and the ball spent an above average time in the air, but Reading did more than enough and probably should have won by more. Reading took the lead after an excellent move that Stephen Hunt created with a cheeky back-heel in the left corner of the pitch. The ball came back to Shorey who whipped in an excellent cross. Seol did well to pull away from two defenders to earn a clear header with which he made no mistake to put Reading ahead. Reading could have extended their lead with a similar move minutes later when another excellent cross found Little in the area. Little's low shot was inches wide of the left post.

FANS' POST MATCH OPINION

Another first for Reading. The first time that heading into a premiership game we were seen by all as the clear favorites and where anything less than three points would have been disappointing. But we didn’t disappoint! Not the most entertaining game of the season so far, but we certainly took control from the start and absolutely lived up to the expectations as favourites.
Another great team performance from Reading and a fantastic result against a Charlton team languishing at the bottom of the league where many doom and gloom merchants predicted we'd be this time of the season. One third of the season gone and we find ourselves at the unbelievable position of eighth in the Premiership, above the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, West Ham and Newcastle. We're there 100% on merit and the league table never lies as we all know! Stand up and take a bow Stephen Hunt, after woeful performance last week he showed us what he's really capable of with a brilliant performance working his socks of and creating havoc in the Charlton defence. The performance was tinged with a couple of hilarious wasted chances one with his head and another shot that nearly left the ground, but we'll forgive him that , well played lad . It's hard to single out again as every Reading player had a stormer, but with Murty and Little back to their very best we really do look a good side going forward . The unsung heroes in defence, Shorey, Sonko and Iceman Inggy all deserve medals and continue to form a defence that stand strong and resolute. Now I'm starting to realise we are a good Premiership team , now I'm starting to realise we are more than good enough to stay up, now I realise the amazing achievement of Steve Coppell in doing what we've done so far with one, yes, one new signing. I never thought I'd be so happy being so comfortably languishing in mid table. Wonderful, simply wonderful just like yesterdays first goal, which had everything a football fan could desire. Great build up, crisp passes, a clever back heel, a slow motion pin point cross and a thumping header. I'm smiling ....UUURRZZZ
