QUOTES FROM THE PRESS

Palace will be left to rue their failure to secure a win having kept eight successive clean sheets at Selhurst Park, although they did extend their unbeaten home run to 10 games. The home side were certainly given the ideal start by Ambrose and, during a lively opening, a lob from Danns was scooped out from under the crossbar by keeper Alex McCarthy, with the referee deciding it had not crossed the goal-line. Ambrose volleyed a Steffen Iversen cross wide before the visitors woke up and hit back. Palace keeper Julian Speroni spilled a looping Jay Tabb effort at the feet of Hunt, who missed the ball with a shot two yards. It got worse for Reading when Vaughan robbed Ivar Ingimarsson and set up Danns to score before the visitors were handed a way back into the game through Paddy McCarthy's challenge on Long. The Royals striker picked himself up to thump in a penalty as Speroni conceded his first goal in more than 13 hours. At the other end, keeper McCarthy tripped Iversen to concede a penalty before making amends when he saved as Ambrose failed to show the same clinical qualities as Long from 12 yards. Palace were punished when Long teed up Kebe to haul Reading level, although substitute Easter chipped up and turned in a shot to put three points within reach of the home side. However, with 17 minutes remaining, Hunt met Jobi McAnuff's cross with a far-post header as both sides had to be satisfied with a point apiece.
