Very solid away performance. Usual possession. Had the better of the chances.controlled it.
Joey Evans and Williams were good in the middle. Mcleary looked good again
New boys solid enough at the back
Kermorgant grew into it and took his goal well.
All of that said Cardiff were awful and let us play our own game with little or no pressure.

Only watched the stream but thought Moore and Blackett had great league debuts. Kermit took his goal well. And Al Habsi earned his MOTM award for some good saves and good footwork.
The passing out from the back works well away from home. We seemed to sap Cardiff's spirit and energy with our constant safe passing and possession. VDB and Al Habsi did well to consistently show for the ball from our defenders to make it happen.
Great 3 points. URZZZ!

Thought we were the better team, our finishing is still gash and Cardiff should have had 10 men for most of the game. Happy for Kerm to get the goal and really hope he pushes on now.

First half, Cardiff pressed us and just edged it imo. Brenda makes out this was simple but it wasn't. They had chances and were an inch or two a number of times from scoring. A better striker, a better ball in and they were in the lead.
Saying that, we did control the game and apart from 10 mins in the second half, it was a bit dull to watch but we are a new team learning an new system and we will only get better. We missed a sitter and then scores and the result was deserved.
Moore was very good. Blackett imo is not a left back and crumbled under any sort of pressure. We need to keep Willian's and VSB had his best game in a Eeading shirt.
Work in progress but all in all a good display away from home and we are improving.
Oh and we look just a little vulnerable when we lose the ball. At times Cardiff cut through us. We need to be a bit harder to expose.
Beer time.

With the back 5 sorted.
Now attention can be paid to who the keeper is and the best perm of the front 5.

Excellent. It would be great if it catches on.
Would help if Rakelss didn't have a broken ankle ... how about
McShane at the back
Kermorgant in attack ... ?
We didn't sign all our players on free's, we aren't technically on our way back either. (Yet)
We didn't find Rakels down the Oxford road in a Latvian deli.
Blackman isn't magic, you know?
They don't have to be perfect m8..

If the back 5 is sorted then I'd say Ali al-Habsi is the keeper......
AAH not good enough. Flaps at crosses too much, doesn't claim anything from 4 yards or more of the goal.
Jakkola looks equality shot stopping capabailities, and distribution. Better in the air so far as well, so would like to see him come in as #1

I quite liked a win away to the tune of in the jungle too, very apt that we scored shortly after.
Can't say I was a fan, sing it in the concourse/pub whatever. But get behind the team in the stands.
Like the McShane song. Didn't fancy that either

Blackett solid enough debut which I'm sure he can build on and Moore looks like a top centre back for this league, reads the game well and has plenty of pace which is nice, reminds of of a bigger more physical Marriappa
Cardiff had a few half chances but looked pretty poor and never looked like winning
Al-Habsi - 6, not fully tested
Gunter - 7, mr consistent
McShane - 6, looks wobbly at times and slow distribution at times
Moore - 9 MOTM, Solid as mentioned
Blackett - 7, improvement on Obitas recent starts
VDB - 8, can't believe he didn't get booked but nothing got past him
Evans - 7, looks to be learning and improving, bright future
Williams - 8, usual struggle pig, We'd miss him him if he left
Beerens - 5, poor game really, missed a sitter and never really got much else going but did work hard
McCleary - 8, looking somewhat back to his best, hopefully stays fit
Kermorgant - 7.5, good finish but didn't contribute a lot else
Obita - 6.5, came on got an assist, always looks better when he has teammates near him
Quinn - 7, kept things ticking over nicely in midfield
Ref - 7, not too bad, no bookings but did give a few soft FK's
Another large amount of possession, a clean sheet and 3 points bring on the international break

Some toss poem/chant seems to be the highlight.
Did anyone actually go?

Not enough people sang it for them to hear it imho but I do agree. The few people that were shouting forwards and then sarcastically and jeering backwards really pissed me off. Yes its not ideal but its no secret what we are trying to do and its going to take time. I wish people would have some patience some times.

Moore MOTM - looked solid won everything he had to, a couple of misplaced passes but nothing as bad as Cooper.
AAH - doesn't inspire me with confidence, flapped at a cross in the first half as usual which nearly cost us. Get in Jakkola.
Blackett - didn't offer an attacking outlet as much as we would have liked. First game so will give a chance though.
VDB - controlled the midfield, made us look solid and offerred Cardiff no space or time on the ball.
The Ref - oxf*rd shocking again. The standard of referreing has been terrible for the past couple of years. Missed a clear few fouls, and failed to book anyone. Even some of our deserving players..

Given that Jakkola has hardly had anything to take aerially his one rather bizarre double handed punch hardly makes me think he's obviously better than Ali.
It's good to have competition, but alHabsi is a good keeper and you need to have a good reason to change keepers, which this season there just isn't.

You are shitting me? 8m? FFS
Wait so now they have Vydra, Russell and Wilson? How they going to play all of them? Not to mention the quality of Blackman and Bent
That's a decent pool of attackers.
Stam is doing the opposite and building from the back. Which is probably a better way to go about things.
