report
|
A combination of resolute defending, brilliant goalkeeping, and wayward finishing enabled the Royals to continue their
long unbeaten run. The Saints played throughout with pace and aggression. Reading struggled to retain possession
against physically stronger opponents who closed them down rapidly all over the field. What they lacked, apart from
a bit of luck, was composure in front of goal. When Reading did push forward the home side looked very dangerous on
the counter attack getting players forward quickly.

FANS' POST MATCH OPINION
|
Reading did very well to come away from St Mary's with a point. Southampton attacked relentlessly, but fatally were
incapable of the final finish. A Saint's fan from work confirmed to me today that they have been the same all season.
As well as being the defensive hero of the night ( he RZZ fans gave him a great send off) Sonko could have stolen
it for the Royals with some headers from crosses and corners which narrowly went over the bar.
Lita was definitely ineffectual, and if Obinna had had more time on the field he could well have made the difference.
