report
|
Reading were again on the wrong end of a heavy defeat, after the latest game in a tough run of fixtures saw the Royals suffer
their fourth straight loss. Portsmouth have had an excellent season so far and, with home advantage also on their side,
swept Reading aside to record a straight forward victory to keep them in touch with the Premiership leaders. Reading were
immediately under heavy pressure, with Hahnemann quickly called into action, and never looked likely to
take anything from the game. There's no doubt that the defence have struggled in recent weeks, especially with Murty missing
through injury - and the statistics don't lie. Gunnarsson has done well coming off the bench to provide cover, but he'll want
to forget his first Premiership start after scoring Portsmouth's first. With just ten minutes on the clock a corner was played
in and swung viciously into the six yard box where Gunnarsson connected to guide the ball into the back of the net. It was
a cruel goal to conceed and Reading never recovered.
