report
|
Reading recorded their first league win of the season with a solid away victory over bottom of the table Barnsley. Barnsley's poor start to the season, which has seen them pick up just one point, saw the departure of their manager immediately after the game. Reading manager Brendan Rodgers will be relieved to ease the early pressure so early in his Reading career, as Reading came from a goal behind to pick up three very valuable points and lift them up to 17th in the table. After losing at home to Barnsley in the league cup just four days earlier Reading needed a result to bring the season to life but looked in trouble going 0-1 down after 11 minutes. The Royals managed to pick up their game and pulled level after half an hour when Pearce scored from a corner.
The second half saw Reading score two goals within two minutes to seal a clear victory. Jimmy Kebe was taken down in the area by the Barnsley goalkeeper to allow Noel Hunt to step up and score his first goal of the season from the penalty spot. Hunt didn't have to wait long for his second when Kebe was again the provider - this time crossing to allow Hunt to head home and make it 3-1. |
