Royals Get Brighton In League Cup

24 August 2016
By Hob Nob Anyone?

Reading have been drawn away at Brighton and Hove Albion in the third round of the League Cup. The game follows last weekend's 2-2 home draw in the Championship against Brighton.

The Royals made it to the third round after victories over Plymouth Argyle in round one and last night's penalty shootout victory over MK Dons - both at the Madejski Stadium.

Brighton have scored four goals in both of their League Cup fixtures so far this season. They started with a 4-0 home win over Colchester before reaching round three with a 4-2 away victory at Oxford United last night.

Can't see a thread already; so who do we want?

Personally I'd like Man Utd as would draw a decent crowd and would be fitting for Stam.

Draw is in around 30-45mins time.

One of the big teams at home would guaranty TV coverage...West Ham at there new stadium would be fun as well. If not away to Northampton or Gillingham for a bit of nostalgia. :D

Let's get Accrington after they knock Burnley out on penalties, then we can play Fosu and they can give him a polite round of applause.

Stuff dreams are made of.

Yeah Accrington in front of 1800 fans on a chilly evening would be great :D

Would be like that home game with Preston all those years ago on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon when only 1850 bothered to turn up. Those were the days lol
It may have been 1500, cannot remember, need one of our statto's to correct me.

Still every cloud. At least they'll be pissed off with this draw too

Didn't take them 1 page after the draw was announced to call us tinpot.

The opportunity of disappointing a bunch of Brighton fans is worth every bit of this being one of the greatest non-events that could befall our club.

Brighton away. Almost anything would be better than Brighton away. But at least they'll hate it, and that alone makes me happy.

Still, at leat they'll have 70,00 passionate and knowledgeable fans of such a massive and historic club filling the seaside ernomodome.

And not bumming each other, obviously.

A nice payday away draw with us getting 50% of the 90,000 strong home crowds fees. The Thai's will be happy.

The Tinpot Derby!!! Hurrah!

If we win they are more tinpot than us. And if we lose we are more tinpot than them. Unless winning in a big plastic stadium really is the sign that a team has become tinpot??? I've never been entirely what sure it means, but bring it on!

A winnable game. :D

Our second team will be stronger than their's.

I imagine Stam will risk even less first team players this time round tbh; really tough run of games following this fixture.

Presumably they have a 10 page thread about how indifferent they are about tinpot Reading already.

YES!!!

Surely we can take at least 4,000 to this? So nice to finally get a big team in the cup. This is footballing Mecca lads!

Worried about this. World class footballing side and a very imposing stadium. Really hope their ultras don't turn up. :|

So this will most likely be on the evening of Tuesday 20th September.

It would be a brilliant evening out if we won the game :P Would prefer to get the train but may be awkward with it being a weekday

Probably go to this purely because tickets will be about £10, but in the league they'll charge £30.

So what we have here is.

Reading fans have delusions of grandeur. Brighton traditionally have always been a bigger club than Reading. There's not a massive gulf in the size of the clubs these days. You're as bad as each other. Get over it and move on.

I would but I'm paralysed with not really caring very much.
