Kebe Blasts Anton On Investment

Jimmy Kebe is set to be the next player in trouble with the club after blasting Reading FC's main investor Anton Zingarevich in an interview with the Reading Post's Jonny Fordham. Fordham's interview allowed Kebe to voice his opinions about Reading's poor season and Kebe spoke out, just like the average fan, disappointed with the lack of investment in the squad. Reading fans expected big things from the Thames Sport Investment take over but nothing has been delivered as the club sit at the bottom of the Premier League table on the back of six straight defeats.
Kebe was directly asked who was to blame for the club's current plight and replied: "You should ask (Anton), but I think he has the money anyway. It's not the manager who decides who he can buy or not. Right now we are in big trouble so you should ask if he wants to spend any money to make the team better so we can compete in the Premier League. Someone bought the club last season. We won the Championship - so surely we need to add decent players? We have some good players, but it wasn't enough and we knew it. People will talk shit about us like we are shit and the manager needs to leave, but that's bullshit. We're behind the manager and we are trying our best. There is no miracle in football. We are all trying our best and you have to ask the owner if he wants to spend any money in January to make the team better otherwise there is nothing to expect."
At least Kebe was quick to defend under fire manager Brian McDermott - who is doing his best with limited resources. McDermott is one of the best Reading managers we've been lucky to have and it would be madness to give him the boot. It's reassuring to know that McDermott has the support of players like Jimmy Kebe. Kebe, who made a goal scoring return from a month off injured on Monday as Reading were thrashed 2-5 by Arsenal, summed it up with what we all know: "We are a good Championship team trying to compete in the Premier League".
